Getting that much in donations is wonderful, especially seeing
how 331 people donated. But that's not even enough to cover one
month of Chuck Priore's salary, and that's with him taking a pay
cut this year. After a pay cut, SH took in roughly $78,000 less
in 2020 than he did in 2019. The donations clearly are not going
to fund the athletic department, sadly.

This amount is an embarasement. SH said he was going to raise
$100,000,000 in five years when he came here. I don't think hes
raised much more than maybe $5,000,000. His fundraising
department at Seawolves United has no idea how to raise money.
This is a division one school. Embarrassing. They played
football this spring and that was a waste of money. Bad
       decisions from those guys.

Genuine question, this is NOT an attack on Shawn Heilbron. Why
did Stony Brook decide to pass over Matt Larsen and look outside
the program for their next AD after the Fiore scandal? Does
anyone know? Larsen left SBU for North Dakota State, about 4-5
months after Heilbron was hired, so it's not as though he had
already been poached by another school. Larsen walked into an
already made situation at NDSU football-wise, with the school
winning its fourth national title only mere months after his
hiring. But it was his decision to keep the head coach search
in-house and has produced four more titles, with the school on
the doorstep of number nine. Larsen can clearly bring in money
as his department raised over $108,000,000 between 2016-21, and
has been able to build or renovate numerous athletic sites
around the campus. And before anyone says it's all football,
it's not. He's upgrading, or upgraded, everything. New media
deals, new donors, new facilities. What happened on Long Island
that led him to leave? Please, if anyone knows, I'm truly
       interested in hearing.

Same here. Wish I knew that answer. Maybe SUNY SB wanted to go
in a different direction even back then?? I don’t know. We all
know today that SH was all fluff and noting to bring to the
table with any substance. He’s done nothing to advance this
program to the next level. Maybe that was SN plans all along? Do
       nothing? I wish I knew!!

Matt Larsen is an extremely nice guy, but very quiet type of
guy, imo. Fiore was an outgoing, dynamic marketer, who had
issues. I think SBU wanted a cleaner version of Fiore. Heilbronn
is a very outgoing person, so I think he fit the bill. Larsen
was not outgoing enough, imo, and was viewed as a bean counter -
this is what I heard. Also, I think he was a Biology major at
sbu; don’t think he was viewed as the guy with the appropriate
credentials moving forward. All that said, looks like he’s been
a winner at NDSU; NDSU obviously wanted a $ guy above all else
       and it’s paid off.

No wonder we're in the position we're in athletically if we
think bullsh*t like this should actually matter when it comes to
       hiring an AD....

Heilbron was also brought in because he was a "$ guy". I don't
know why Larsen is exceeding at the thing Heilbron is failing
       at.

Yes, That I do remember. He's been anything but a fund raiser
       for this Uiversity.
