I saw that; you beat me to posting about it. You are right, St.
Pat's is a bit down this year, and they were missing their top
scorer, but Warney's performance was still very impressive.
They still have many D1 prospects, and the program remains one
of the top programs in the state.....one more thing on Warney:
he made the NJ state all-star game (one of 30 players selected,
15 from the North and 15 from the South) along with Puriefoy.
Having 2 of the top players in the state is pretty good.
Speaking of Puriefoy, I wasn't able to make the game last night,
but saw that they were beaten by 19 by Paul VI. Puriefoy had 16
and 6 rebounds, but I can't offer much more info other than
Bishop Eustace didn't play well apparently.

State Play-Off update: Warney's team was eliminated in the
semi's by Trenton Catholic, who is a very good team. Final was
58-43. He had 10 points in the game.....Puriefoy's squad won
Friday night in what was apparently a great game (here's

and he led them with 39. They play Monday night vs. St.
Joe-Metuchen, who are the #1 seed in the Non-Public
bracket.....Last I could find on Burnett, his team won their
quarter-final game 52-50. He had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3
assists.....I can't find anything on Reid in any play-off games.

Thanks for the update. Not to get ahead of myself , I'm
looking forward to next year. This could be a very interesting
team with Brenton, Coley and Jackson still in the mix as
veterans and lot of major talent with our incoming class. We
haven't see Scott King take a shot yet either .

This class plus King and Mayo will make next year interesting
for sure. A lot of new pieces, but I wouldn't be surprised if a
couple of them jump onto the scene in a big way.
Reports seem to indicate that we are still recruiting for 2012.
I'm not sure if someone is leaving (my fear, and I almost don't
even want to say it, is Brenton isn't sticking around for his
fifth year. Assuming he's graduating in May, he's free to
transfer to any school in the country.) or if the information is
inaccurate but Isaiah Cousins, who recently added some high
major offers, and Jourdan Stickler have both reported offers
from Stony Brook.

If anyone goes it's Ron Bracey. Not a ton of playing time,
should go down even more with the talent we're bringing in. I
also think Pikiell likes the idea of redshirting some of his
younger players. No chance Brenton doesn't play a 5th season. At
this point he's guaranteed a Europe pro contract. He's just
playing to get into a better league.

I really thought Bracey was going to be big for us. I guess he
didn't fit well into Pikiell's system... It really sucks to not
see him play. I hope that our recruiting class combined with
those staying can make a strong team next year.

My expectations for next year are tempered a bit. I don't think
we will be in Vermont's or Albany's class but should be in the
three four range of the standings next year. After that my
expectations jump to competing for the league title for the next
three years.

I wouldn't count out Bracey just yet! I see him as a great
player off the bench next year behind Brenton; he will have 2
full off-seasons and a year of in-season to learn what the coach
wants from him (defense/rebounding most importantly). The
second unit will need someone to score from the wing, and he is
more than capable. Sometimes it takes players from JC a year to
get comfortable; just look at Rapier......as for still
recruiting in the 2012 class, Cousins is intent on going to a
higher profile conference. I haven't heard of the other young
man, but I doubt that there will be any additions. You seem to
have a good class with every position covered (including King).

I really hope so Quick! One of the hardest things to do when
your are successful is to be able to sustain it year in year
out. I wouldn't want Stony Brook to fall out of the top 3 one
year after playing in the Championship game. You have to
demonstrate to the potential recruits that this year was no
"fluke" and that Stony Brook is here to stay. With the arena
almost under renovation, I hope that we can continue to attract
talented recruits!
But for now, I'll enjoy the Biggest game in Stony Brook History
at home! Lets go Seawolves
