Rumor mill: Boals/Ford on the move?

With Gary Waters resigning this week, both were mentioned in the
Cleveland daily as a possible replacement:
HTML http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2017/03/cleveland_state_scribbles_thre.html
"6. I don't know if he'd be interested, but Jeff Boals should be
contacted. A former Akron and Ohio State assistant, Boals just
finished his first season as head coach of Stony Brook. He had
an 18-13 overall record, 12-4 and second place finish in the
America East Conference.
7. Boals has a base salary of $365,000 at Stony Brook. Waters
was paid $475,000 this season. So it's possible Boals would be
in the price range for CSU. It would be a matter of him leaving
the Long Island school after one year.
8. An assistant at Stony Brook is a familiar name to local
college fans -- Geno Ford. From 2008-11, Ford had a 68-37 record
(35-13 in the MAC) at Kent State. His next stop was Bradley,
where he had problems: 46-86. Ford played at Ohio and has lots
of recruiting connections here."
Ford was among three candidates named here:

I wouldn't take this too seriously- it says first line "I don't
know if they'd be interested".
Geno Ford, maybe? But Coach Boals just started here- his family
relocated to Long Island. He clearly seems to like being here.
Mid-major coaches don't hop around.
I wouldn't worry about this at all.

I would think that Ford would be interested if it was offered to
him. I'd be stunned if Boals cut out after a year.

Cleveland radio guy hints that Geno is being heavily considered:

Could be reading the same stories we are; could actually be
someone in the know.

I was thinking about this last night actually in the wake of
VCU's coach leaving. If this is serious I would hope Heilbron
looks to bump up Boals' salary. Honestly though, I don't think
this has legs all that much. Leave a state flagship AAU school
who is on the rise for Cleveland State? Cleveland State?! What
are they academically? The 18th ranked public school in Ohio? No
way would Boals leave for that unless they completely blow us
out of the water on salary. Students want to study and compete
at sbu, nobody wants to go to Cleveland St. unless they get
rejected by Ohio St., Ohio, Miami, Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton,
Kent St., Bowling Green, Toledo, etc.....
I'm normally not one to throw stones, but nobody gives a ****
about Cleveland State ;D

Totally agree.. I don't think Boals came here with the
aspiration to coach another mid-major again. He will follow
Pikiell's footsteps. Establish his coaching and recruiting
credentials at Stony Brook next few years and then find a HC job
at a power conference (F5+BigEast). At worse he will take a A10
job, which is a high-mid conference. But I don't see him leaving
in next few years until he is a hot commodity, and definitely
not for another mid or low-mid major.
Unless of course he fails to find success here. And all the
indications from this past season, do not indicate we are moving
towards that direction.. hopefully :)

IMO, the only way Boals would take a job like that now is if his
family missed OH in terms of family, region, etc. Also, hardly
the bump in league status that a coach would be looking for
after only 1 year under his belt. If Boals succeeds at SBU his
next 2 years, I would expect him to be gone then (maybe CAA or
equivalent).

The Youngstown State job is open too. Again, I don't think
either of these gigs is something Boals would go for, but
perhaps Ford would. The coach at Fairmont State, which is in the
Division II Elite Eight, seems highly likely to land one of the
two based on what I've read.
