As a recent arrival to this board, just caught up on all the
2017-18 recruits, and all I can say is wow! Unless the hype is
overblown, I can't remember an incoming class (including Garcia)
as potent and diverse as the one coming in. The only downside
is having to wait 7 months before we start it up again. Looks
like Coach Boals is using his mid-western roots and his Thad
Motta-taught experience, in conjunction with Stony Brook
pedigree (both athletics and academics) to land himself some
quality recruits. Looks like a lot of guys will be fighting for
playing time next season.

I have a feeling we will get some JuCo talent to supplement the
youth on the roster next year- a lot of freshmen are going to be
seeing instant playing time.
Also, Coach Boals posted this on twitter today. Makes me think
he'll be looking on that front.

That is very, very interesting. Saintel and Iroegbu were nice
pieces out of the juco ranks but maybe a high D-I kickback? Hey
Devonte Green ... how YOUUUU doin? J/K. Would be incredible but
all but impossible.
Could Boals be subtly extending a invitation to an OSU youngster
that he helped recruit?

I definitely agree that the talent coming in for next year
(including Garcia, of course) could stack up to be something
really special. But, several of you have mentioned adding a
JUCO to the mix. I think that is highly unlikely. Based upon
the current scenario, there are currently 14 scholly players
lined up for next year. IOW even without adding a JUCO, someone
must go ! Adding an additional player to the mix would only
make matters worse in this regard.

So who are the candidates to go do you think? Donohoe is
non-scholly, right? What about Mendy, with his legal issues?
Will Nyama transfer out? Will Campbell transfer to try and get
playing time somewhere else?

Looking at the scholarships next year:
Graduating/Leaving: Woodhouse, Mitchell, Nyama
Seniors: UC, Sekunda, Saintel, Petras, Sturdivant = 5
Juniors: None = 0
Sophomores: Almonacy, Yeboah (RS), Campbell (RS) = 3
Freshmen: McKenzie, Long, Garcia (RS), Olaniyi, Ochefu = 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total = 13
I thought with Nyama leaving one scholarship spot opened up, but
I am counting max limit 13. Am I missing something? Or should we
be expecting more roster movement?

No, additional roster moves should not be expected unless
something not expected occurs. It's been known for sometime
that SBU had LOIs from one more than openings existed for next
season. It was merely a question as to who would be leaving.
