Another big one, guys. If we win this, we're two games up on UNH
AND have the tiebreak. That could be a factor with seeding.
Leissner is a handful, and he was especially so against UMBC,
going for 36 and 9 in UNH's overtime loss. He has enough of a
jumper where you have to respect it, and he's a load inside,
which gets him to the free throw line A LOT – 10 attempts and
makes against UMBC, 12 attempts and makes the game before that,
and he was 14 for 17 against us in our first meeting. We aren't
exactly blessed with superior interior defense, but I'd love to
find a way to limit his chances there. Since scoring one point
on 0 for 9 shooting against us last January, he's gone for 26
and 25 the next two meetings.
Dion was a 25-minute guy last year but he's up around 35 minutes
a night now, as are Smith and Leissner. He's given UNH a big
lift and has hit at least three threes in six straight games,
and in 10 of the last 11. He played all 40 minutes against us up
in Durham, and we did well to force him to go 3 for 11 from
deep. He's more limited offensively than Duncan is, but we still
have to make sure we get out to cover him. Smith's three-point
percentage is up 10 percent from his freshman year too, so not a
bad duo for them.
With their limited depth, I'd love to see us attack Camara
inside like we did a month ago. He only played 16 minutes and
battled foul trouble the whole day, eventually fouling out.
Sturdy had his way inside when he was out, going for 20 and 7.
I think the SBU coaching staff would have signed up for second
place at the halfway point of the conference season. Will they
change the formula or ride with what has gotten us here?

We better be ready for them.. UNH will look to pay back for
their home loss against us. And of course as Checkmate said,
this is a big game for both teams trying get the 2nd seed.

why did the listings say 7pm for a 730 game?
ugly start for both teams. except dion who hit 3 threes.
iroegbu nice effort. i think nyama is locking leissner. petras
in early foul trouble. saw some good things from saintel, both
tangible and intangible. campbell gets a minute, 1 block 1
asst.

Hoo boy, clawed and scratched for another win. Tough team. Among
the gutty performances mentioned, really nice to see Campbell
noticeably contribute in the short time he was in (and he nearly
had himself in position for a second block). Sekunda needs to
shoot himself out of this mini slump--they're going to need
those 3-4 3pters he's capable of delivering in a game. This is
going to be a real nail-biter second round of conference...

Monster win. I was not optimistic after we (including the fans)
sleepwalked through the first half, but another big second half
got it done. Just a great result to get so we remain two games
up on Albany heading into this weekend's game.
21, 9 and 9 for Woodhouse. Enormous. He carried us again. I
didn't think he had this kind of scoring production in him,
mentally (because he's a distributor) or athletically. It's
amazing how often he finishes at the rim. I'll bet he had no
more than five layups last year. Tonight, a number of huge, huge
conversions.
I'm starting to worry about Sekunda. His second straight
scoreless game, and he hasn't hit double digits since December.
I'd be less concerned if he was out there for more than just his
shot, but that's his calling card. Nothing out of Yeboah tonight
either. Need both those guys on the offensive end.
Favorite moment: Kam's steal and three. I share a similar
opinion of him that many of you do, but I was happy for him. Big
spot. Loved Campbell's block too. That's just something we don't
have unless he's out there. The coaches must have seen enough in
practice to deem him too risky of a play. I say give him a few
minutes. The crowd likes him.
Dion was killer obviously, but I'd rather it come from him than
Leissner. Loved that he was saddled with foul trouble. They rely
so heavily on those two and Smith in major minutes, but it's a
different team when they aren't all out there. Very limited
depth.
Loved the lobs to Saintel. I hope we see more of it. Nobody in
this conference can come close to going up and getting it like
he can.
