Just watched the replay (thanks Espn3). There's no shame losing
the game. We played well and competed tough. Vermont is
obviously the team to beat this year... well rounded, balanced
and talented. But as Moveitfred mentioned, Vermont will lose a
game. They are bound to lose focus for a stretch or have an off
night. Let's hope that happens during the AE tourney.
Stony Brook has proved that they can beat any team on any night
at any place, except Vermont. There's no shame in it. Let hope
for a bit of luck and hold on to the 2nd or 3rd seed. You never
know what will happen in AE tourney. It hasn't been that long
when we were the class of the conference but bowed out in the
conference tourney. May be we can spoil someone else's party
this time around.

About what I expected tonight. We had opportunities but could
not quite get over the hump. Duncan and their size hurt us. UVM
is no doubt the team to beat but SBU can be competitive.
Laxnation, please stop going on and on about Mitchell. He
clearly is going to get some minutes whether you like it or not.
Find something else to harp on. It has gotten really annoying to
keep reading your same tired thoughts.

I will not stop posting about the ridiculousness of Boales
starting #3 for both halves, especially since it's now probably
cost Stony Brook a game or two!

I see Boals point of view.. Who else do they have on the bench
who can start over Cam?? Sekunda, Almondancy, Iroegbu?? I hate
to say it Lax but Boals is out of options. You can thank the
Tasmanian devil for that. Walker....

What's wrong with starting Yeboah over #3?

Despite one probably bad loss and one arguably good loss, I
think Boals is squeezing all he can out of this roster. For one
month (and hopefully a bit more) with this team, Boals needs 10
guys who are confident and ready to play despite all the obvious
weaknesses. I find myself nit-picking, too, about some of the
rotations and moves, but bottom line Boals needs 10 guys/2 teams
with some sense of balance and collective weapons to play an
entire game. It's within the realm of possibility, too, that in
a unique situation even Campbell will need to step in with
confidence to guard an OOB play or be there for a big rebound.
If someone had asked me at the start of AE, All games and
situations and personnel aside will you take sole second place
at the end of the first round? I'd say, Heck yeah. This SBU team
has A LOT of fight. Based on what I've seen so far in AE play,
the chance that this team has the potential to do something
surprising is not that surprising if the confidence and gutty
play from all players, despite their abilities, continues.

Because Yeboah is a RF. Not many coaches will start a freshman
over a 4 year senior, unless you have 4 or 5 stars attached to
your name

I'm not the coach, but probably not Cam. But what do i know. I
agree with you Cam is not a good divI BB player but considering
who is left on the bench, I think coach Boals has no other
option..I said all along Boals should have started Campbell over
Petras in the beginning of the season. Now its too late to make
the switch, but rotating the two bigs only makes sense to me

I sense that Boals values getting an offensive bump off the
bench from Sekunda and Yeboah, plus you can't bench Saintel and
Mitchell and have them enter the game with Almonacy, Iroegbu and
Petras. That's a five that can't score whatsoever. Of course you
can always stagger the substitutions but Boals seems comfortable
with the two lineups, especially in the first half. Truthfully,
who cares who starts? What matters is who gets the minutes,
especially at the end of the game. Yeboah, Sekunda and Mitchell
were even in minutes. I would like to see it slanted more toward
the first two but you also have to rotate guys in and out.
Yeboah and Sekunda went 1 for 12 with five points, and the
latter in particular adds very little defensively. Kam isn't
great but it's clear he's among the top 8 guys we have ... which
doesn't say much for us but it is what it is.
Worse game: Sekunda 0 for 3, no boards, no assists, no points,
18 minutes. What were you doing out there, son?
It's one game - and he's allowed off nights too - but our
success hinges so much on his perimeter shot. When he's getting
looks and knocking them down, we can beat anybody. I give
Vermont credit. I saw more challenged threes than I feel like I
have all year. Manned up, hand up, every time.
We have to be concerned about our defense. 56 percent against is
not going to get it done. Vermont got A LOT of layups and they
missed a lot of them too. There is simply no reason not to go to
the rack against us.
Ernie Duncan awakened. Not sure where he's been the last month
but I thought he might break out. That he can shoot like he does
AND put it on the floor some is a nice combination.
Lamb's a nice player. Three and a half more years of him #gulp
All this said, Vermont isn't so big and bad. We shot it poorly
and couldn't quite get over the hump in the second half. It's
early for us to be talking about going up there in March and
winning, so let's go and get the 2 seed.
