Maine had a nice core of guys last year, but with the coaching
change – or because there were greener pastures – Isaac Vann
transferred to VCU and Wyandanch's own Kevin Little found a home
not here at SBU but at Colorado State. Then their third-leading
scorer from last year, Aaron Calixte, broke his foot earlier in
the year and after a brief return he's sat out the last two
games. He's played just five games all year.
Oh, and it gets worse. Maine native Andrew Fleming's missed the
last three with an ankle injury (I left him up there; not sure
if he's playing) and a couple weeks before him, a promising juco
transfer, Ilker Er, tore his ACL.
So Maine is piecing it together. Myers is a transfer from
Niagara who's had some massive nights, including putting 31 on
UMass Lowell in Maine's win on Wednesday that snapped a
seven-game losing streak. He also lit up Vermont for 30 and UMBC
for 28, so that's a cool 29.7 average in conference play with
Fleming and Er – the second and third leading scorers – out of
       action.
Howard, another juco transfer, has seen a huge spike in minutes
with all the new PT up for grabs. He had 18 points in the
victory over Lowell, while Bernstein had a career-high 15 to go
with five boards and six assists.
But check this out ... the minute distribution ... Bernstein
*40*, Myers 38, Howard 38, with three others players in the 20s
who combined for seven points. It's a three-headed monster, and
monster is a little strong here.
That said, with our guys, I can never write them off but I can't
guarantee a win for them either. It's a long way up to Bangor.
That said, I feel like Nyama and/or Saintel find a way to limit
Myers, and we'll get some open looks with fresher legs. We've
gotten them all year, but it's just a matter of knocking them
down. Let's get on the glass like we did against Albany too.

My feelings about the team right now is that they're capable of
beating any team in the conference, but they're also capable of
losing to any team in the conference. Hopefully the guys come
out ready to play tomorrow and prove me wrong.

study is or should be our MIP. he is playing so well. myers is
the real deal, he looks like a first teamer.

I would like to see yeboah and Nyama step up and start
producing. Sturdy and Woodhouse cant carry the entire team..

sturdy has really developed the midrange jumper. it's a nice
tool to have. jameel never really took those (didnt have to!
       of course).

Another pitiful game with only one basket by Mitchell! Plus, his
defense has been atrocious this season!
Hammer - do you think the team will lose their next 14 games?
       ;D

Woodhouse is so far the MVP of the season! He is the true
       definition of a point guard!

Solid, poised effort up in Maine. Well done. Have to like the
way the Seawolves play in any game right now with 10 mins left,
no matter the score. Woodhouse acting as if he would like a
       re-do trip to the NCAAs.

Nope. Not anymore. Coach Boals did a fabulous job turning this
team around in the 2nd half of the season. Kudos to him and the
       team.
