Small correction: SBU was last up by 8 with about 11 mins left,
not at 8. At 8 mins we were down 6. Obviously those three mins
were the big swing.
I guess a minority opinion here, but I liked much of what I saw
from SBU tonight. Not sure they'll see teams as big, physical,
and talented overall as Rutgers in the AE (illustrates the
significant difference between Big 10 and AE, for sure, as
Rutgers will likely struggle in conference). As an aside that
probably suggests something, too, NEastern beat Vermont tonight
at Vermont.
The drought in the middle of the second half did them in, but
credit to fight back. UC's three went halfway in...
I see good things especially within the context of the AE to
come. Frankly, tonight convinced me that SBU has a legit chance
to beat anyone in the conference.

The drought in the 2nd half did us in . Add to that some poor
ball handling we still hung tough .

This lost was on Boals. He left Petras and the bench players in
the game to long in the second half. Especially leaving Petras
in. Petras is not a div1 player and Boals should know that by
now!!!!!!

Chair, who are all these guys you are expecting to make twos?
(I'm assuming you meant "wouldn't have") Is this all happening
with their back to the basket? I just don't see it. I see two,
maybe three on the team who can do anything with regularity
inside the arc - Nyama, Yeboah and Sturdy. And the first two on
that list? They made seven threes tonight. We have a three in
the air to tie an 8-1 Big Ten team with five seconds left and
you're saying we went about it the wrong way? Sorry. Don't agree
with that. We had them on the ropes and a large reason was we
shot 45 percent from deep.
In this day and age, it's either in the paint or a three, no?
There is little to no midrange game anymore, and it's a good
thing because we don't have any midrange guys. I agree: taking
29 threes in 57 attempts is too many on most nights. But Rutgers
had us on height, size, speed, athleticism, experience,
everything so for me we need the three. That's how the
Cinderellas beat the high seeds in the tournament. It's not by
beating them up down low. Woodhouse led us in boards!
Sturdy had 4 and 4 with 4 fouls in 21 minutes. Completely
overmatched and ineffective on both ends of the floor. Petras
did nothing in the box score either but at least he could keep
Gettys from backing him down. And with Rutgers' size, I'm fine
with Sekunda getting as many minutes as Iroegbu.
Bottom line is we went cold when we couldn't afford to, right in
the middle of the second half. These weren't all threes -
Mitchell missed layup, Woodhouse missed layup, Sekunda turnover,
Yeboah and Iroegbu missed Js. Just a killer 15-0 run where
Rutgers got a lot of layups and trips to the line. By contrast,
we had almost no easy baskets the entire game.
To me, the loss stinks but it's a very positive night. We played
them TOUGH. Even with its limitations, the offense flowed, the
looks were there and we competed hard. We overcame what I
thought were a few highly questionable foul calls in the second
half. It was another step forward for Yeboah and a couple other
guys. And Ireogbu's equalizer was halfway down. It would have
been fun to see if we could have pulled it out in OT. In the
end, the coaches are playing their cards as well as I could hope
for, and we are going to be in a lot of games come the
conference schedule.

Spot on checkmate... We were def overmatched in every way from
the beginning and stood with them until the very end. That in it
self is impressive. I think we could have pulled an upset win
today but fell... It was very entertaining tho..

Tre Purifoy was in attendance last night sitting behind the
Rutgers bench.. Did you get a chance to talk to him Lax??? I saw
he was only 3 seats away from you.

Yes, I spoke with Tre (I was his biggest fan and he was
extremely underappreciated during the Warney years). I shook
hands and he spoke about playing in only two games and being out
for the rest of the season due to a leg injury. He had long leg
brace, but it didn't stop he from moving around like rabbit.

I'm a broken record but I'm impressed with the job Boals is
doing with a roster that's not the most talented in the world.
Positives:
1. Sekunda is getting his legs back under him and regaining his
confidence. He's also playing surprisingly good defense.
2. Woodhouse is the unquestioned leader- he's playing really
composed ball.
3. Yeboah looks like a very good player- he's got tremendous
poise for a freshman.
4. Nyama has taken the next step forward- he's the type of
athletic wing that I think Boals is building around.
Negatives:
1. Sturdivant is outmatched against good bigs- he's not big
enough to hang in there in the post. It's not a huge deal as
he'll be OK in the America East.
2. Petras needs to work on his post defense- he does not play
like a 7 footer. Mixed bag for Petras. overall.
3. Saintel and Iroegbu continue to disappoint- our JuCos have
been essentially nonfactors this year.
I still think this team has shown they can make some noise in
the America East.

Yeboah should make the All Rookie Team come March he continues
to impress . Sturdivant was outmatched last night as were a
couple of our guys . Rutgers is not Ohio State but they are
still a Big 10 program. I suspect we could sneak in as a 3rd or
4th spot in AE play. Other than Vermont and maybe UNH everything
is up for grabs Albany runs hot and cold and has new guys also.
So we still have shot come March .
