I'd be impressed if we got this one. Lehigh was projected to win
the Patriot League title, garnering 17 of 20 first-place votes
in the preseason, and has two returning first-team all-league
players. They've shot better than 50 percent as a team over the
first seven games, and better than 40 from three. And they make
their free throws (.778). This is a goooood team.
The first all-leaguer is Kempton, who may be the best player we
see at IFCU the whole season. He's the son of a 12-year pro (and
former St. Dom's star) and is the two-time defending Patriot
League Player of the Year. He's well on his way to hitting the
2,000 point mark before all is said and done too. Check out his

Real polished big man. He's hit 30 twice this year.
The other is Ross, who has made all-league the last two seasons
and was top 20 in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio as a
sophomore. He had 12 dimes in a six-point loss to Xavier in the
season opener. Also in the backcourt is Leufroy, who led the
Patriot League in three-point FG% as a freshman, hitting on more
than 44 percent of his attempts from deep. They have a few more
shooters who aren't listed above too.
I'm interested to see the pace of this game. Lehigh gave up more
than 80 points in each of its four losses, and 75, 67 and 58 in
its three wins. They have been turnover prone, averaging nearly
15 a game so far.
I've been very pleased with the looks our guys are getting. I
saw more forced shots in one game last year than I have in our
first seven. I'm curious if we can be anything but a
jump-shooting team though. Aside from Sturdivant, we can count
on occasional drives from Nyama or floaters from Woody but
little else. I'd love it if Yeboah could round into form but
he's been disappointing so far. Of course, we're only seven
games in.

Lehigh looks pretty good even with their losses . Impressive
win if we can get it.

What a difference a year makes . We can only improve. When I
first started going to SBU games was the year before the
Piekell era and our RPI was just about dead last . It will take
time to bounce back

Let's go! I wasn't able to make the game tonight, but caught the
second half on the radio. It sounded ugly, but Lehigh should be
quality out of conference. Pumped to see this team keep getting
after it.

Wasn't necessarily pretty, but a good grind-out win. Solid game
plan with Kempton that worked, can only imagine what he would
have gotten if not sitting so much with foul trouble. Good to
see Yeboah step up with a productive night. Here's hoping for
more energy and 3s against Rutgers.

Just a note we shot almost 90% from the FT line tonight.
Against NE it was about 85 or so that's a real improvement over
last year . I think we won both games on the FT line this week .
Boa;s must have our guys taking dozens of attempts in practice
each day. Good tough win again we bent but didn't break .

Oh baby. Easy to like this team. The guys really toughed that
one out.
Woodhouse is just so steady. He controls the pace, finds the
open guy, picks his spots, and is money down the stretch at the
line.
That said, he's drawn two enormous fouls this season - the cheap
one to put us ahead against Northeastern, and the foul that got
our lead to three when it seemed like we weren't going to get a
quality shot.
A much needed boost from Kwasi tonight. He has to be a regular
contributor for us. I think this night may get him off the
schneid.
I love that Sekunda plays such an enormous role for this team.
He gave us a nice jolt off the bench in the first half when we
were stuck on one point.
Obviously Kempton's foul trouble was the story. Them without him
was like us without Warney. Kempton has a nice game but wasn't
as polished on the block as I thought. I was thinking he would
basically be McHale but not quite. Two early fouls and then the
tech and screen call to get him out of there in the second. We
got it up to nine and were lucky to hold on.
Is that guy the Christian Laettner of the Patriot League or
what? If you're a diehard Lafayette fan, you HATE that kid.
Eye opening stat: 60 attempts to their 44. And second-place eye
opener is that 26 of their 44 shots came from three. That is a
ridiculous split.
Solid contributions from Petras and Campbell. I know Kempton had
27 but they bodied him up and kept him from dominating inside
with Sturdy out. Loved when Campbell ran the floor for his
second bucket. His confidence has to be growing and I think he's
a bit of a crowd favorite right now.
Going in the other direction: Almonacy. I was dead wrong about
him in the scrimmage. Timid, no motor, gunshy and I think his
confidence is shot. He looks scared out there. Hunch is he
transfers out after the year - Post or Adelphi, something like
that. It's a tough matchup going up against Ross in this spot
but he looked completely overmatched. We basically have one
ballhandler. You think Lehigh struggled without Kempton? I hope
we never see us handle pressure without Woodhouse.
Good energy from Saintel. The jucos aren't doing much for us but
a nice night for him.
So maybe we can actually take out Rutgers?

from behind the arc.
during the warney era, ok, for two reasons- he picked up
rebounds, and two, they gave us the look to double him up.
if you take those 27 shots, and try for a higher % shot, how
many do we make? multiply by 2/3 and see if it works.

I don't think we have players with the ability to regularly
score from two.
