With the 1st of the year around the corner there is an event
worth noting and that is the NCAA Football Conference that takes
place in January the reason I say this is because that's when
Head Coaches of many programs will reach out to fill there
staffs such as Lyle Hemphill our DC who could get a lot of
action
AS far as our commitments for the Class of 2017 go I just spoke
to the SBU Football Recruiting Coordinator and even though they
just lost a huge OT to UCONN they feel that this upcoming group
will match or exceed the group they brought in last year

Any talk of finding a QB? I know we have Tyquell Fields, but if
he doesn't pan out, what's the deal, we go back to Carbone??????

Hammer I haven't heard anything regarding the QB position other
than Fields is going to get the shot to be the guy

Another bad trend in DI College Football is gaining popularity
as players who plan on playing in the NFL are skipping their
final Bowl Game to prepare for the NFL Draft instead

Yeah, i saw that. LSU RB, Fournette stands as being one of the
top prospects to ditch the bowl game.... I see it both ways..
These athletes are protecting their bodies from damage, so not
to interfere with the draft selection and potentially get
drafted lower than they would have, ultimately costing them
money in the short term... Same token. The school who gave them
free education is getting the shaft in the bowl game and
potentially costing them the game.. Double edged sword!

Another trend I really dislike is the increased number of bowl
games. Teams with no winning record shouldn't be playing a bowl
game. Defeats the purpose. 40 bowl games are too many. I know
it's not going happen due to money involved, sponsors and ESPN,
but in my opinion there should be just 10/15, max 20 bowl games.
Only the deserving ones. And 7 of those should be 4
quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and 1 championship.

Couldn't agree more about too many Bowl Games.

With January right around the corner the SBU Coaches will be
very busy as starting with the weekend of the 15th then the 22nd
and finally the 29th they will be hosting many recruits from
around the country on campus from what I'm hearing there will be
about 24 to 36 players with the 11 commits already there will
probably be another 5 scholarship kids and another 6 to 12
walk-ons. I asked if they are bringing any players in for the
Spring Semester and was told no however there is still time for
that to change. As far as transfers from DI Colleges I was told
there is nothing to announce at this time. The last thing I
heard was that as many as 6 players because of there roles on
the team last year will be transferring out of SBU.
To everyone on this site I like to wish you a happy holiday for
whichever holiday you celebrate

Happy New Year to all
What I'm hearing in regards to the 2017 Class
On Martin Luther King Day there will be many New York HS
Football Players on Campus as the SBU Coaches try to convince
them to be a preferred player here rather than a Scholarship
Player somewhere else and from what I know expect about a dozen
of these guys to except this offer.
As you know the SBU Coaches have been bringing many Archbishop
Stepinac Players here well in the last two days they have
offered two more of them; Devante Reid a very good Athlete and
Antonio Giannico a very good RB who happens to be in the Donald
Liotine Mold only a little bigger and faster we should know in
the next couple of weeks if they will come the competition for
both are other CAA Teams
A couple of Players that SBU thought they had only to have them
go to UCONN may come back into play as they were recruited by
the previous Coach who was fired and right now the new Coach has
decided whether or not he still wants them one of them is James
Tunstall a huge OL out of Maryland
SBU will probably bring in 2 PK's for next year a Scholarship
and a Walk-on
