We are now in the new season which is recruiting the best
possible players for your program and then getting those players
to commit and eventually sign.
What I'm hearing right now is they have many players that they
will start bringing in for visits starting in December
A player that they really like is Kyle Nunez OT/DT from East
Islip who is 6'3 310 pounds however he has a total of 6 offers
at this time so this is going to be a battle to get him to stay
home
Other players that they like from LI are Jordan McLune
Farmingdale RB, Dan Lord St. Anthony's DE, Joe Valenti Wantagh
DL, John Carpoc Ward Melville Safety, Joel Cruz Freeport OL/DL,
Greg Amato William Floyd OL, Anthony Del Negro Connetquot LB,
Christian Carrick New Hyde Park PK and there are several more.
Because Coach P has always tried to get the LI players to walk
on the LI Coaches are now telling their players if they don't
give you any kind of package than go somewhere else.
As I get the list of verbal commits I will post them

Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot with local talent .
So you walk on redshirt a year and hope to play 4 years more.
Why not go somewhere else and get a full or partial scholarship
and play in your freshman year. Our program is in reverse.

I guess that Shawn is not planning to fire P this winter. if he
was, I am sure we would have heard about it by now.

2 more years left on P contract. Unless some Big-Money Booster
wants to buy out coach P remaining contract I dont see him going
anywhere. Maybe next season if he has another dismal year then I
can see SB paying buying out one year of his contract, not
two......

This university is very slow to get things accomplished.. How
long have we been hearing about that puny, 2000 seat laValle
stadium expansion project. 5 years now? and still no signs of
construction. Even as of yesterday, when i was there to watch my
nephew play in the long island championship game for SWW high
school. Shawn told us in the spring, construction was going to
start at the at the beginning of this year football season. The
same thing for the construction of the indoor workout facility.
I am not expecting to see that get going for a few more years
even though the $ was appropriated for it, and the same for
laValle stadium,

I went to all 4 LIC Games this past weekend at both Hofstra and
Stony Brook and in my opinion the crowds were not that great
As far as getting better crowds for the SBU Games they need to
do the following;
1) Need an exciting product which right now is boring at best
2) Play the Games when the LI HS Teams are not playing and offer
package prices to lure teams to come as a group
3) Give an incentive to the College Students to stay on campus
and come to these games
4) Run Clinics with young player programs such as PAL ( when
Coach K was here he worked very closely with PAL) to build a
bigger community presence (I know they do some of this now but
not enough)

I think the ward melville/ Floyd game had the biggest
attendance. Over 5500... What a game that was.
All your points you bring up are good ones, campi. Problem is it
will be almost impossible to achieve any of them..
1) trying to schedule times is probably the most difficult task
of all.
2) Win games and become nationally recognized is the only way
to expand the SB brand, and that is not happening lately
3) SB has a very high percentage of Asians on campus and they
dont give two hoots about football. You couldn't pay them $$ to
stick around campus on the weekends
4) running clinics is a very good for attracting younger players
to SB.. They should should definitely be more involved with
that.. I also think the coaches should be more involved with
going to local high schools and talk to Juniors and Seniors
athletes more. I know they do visit the school if one player is
a stud, but make it a yearly visit and get more personal with
kids and local high school coaches

Campi I agree we need some type of incentive. I dont see much
improvement for the 2017 season so any help is a plus. I
worked in White Plains for a number of years and every August
posters would go up on the Metro North trains and Stations
promoting Army Football. Army isn't a powerhouse program either
so maybe an investment with the LIRR for the fall season might
help. We are the only Div 1 program out here so lets sell the
product across the Island .

Every August the coaches in Nassau and Suffolk hold their
kickoff meeting to discuss the start of the
workouts/schedules/rules/Etc and every HS coach is represented
at that meeting for both counties now that would be a good time
for the SBU recruiter to be there and layout the SBU goals for
their upcoming season however that never happens and I think the
LI HS coaches just want to feel a little love and that could go
along way for recruiting and getting their players to camps.
As far as SBU starting times even if you got 6 HS teams a week
including the players parents, coaches, etc it would be a start
I know there are a lot of Asian students but there are also a
lot of non Asian students that they have to figure a way of
attracting them to games such as have a concert after a game or
a movie or even a carnival but they to try to do something
because what they are doing now is not working
