Stony Brook at Albany
By: seawolf80 Date: November 15, 2016, 8:37 am

Final game of the season. A dissapointing 3 game stretch has
left the Wolves with only pride, a winning record and a defeat
of Albany to play for. Perhaps some of the players set to return
in 2017 can show the coaches their desire to turn this around.
It would be great if the seniors had a positive last memory of
their college careers. Albany had a great 2nd half last week and
they still have an outside shot at a playoff spot. I am sure SBU
would love to ruin that for them.

Would I be totally wrong and selfish if I think SB should lose
this game?? I only say that for the future of this team going
forward. Maybe there will be a shakeup that is much needed, but
then again. Maybe not!!!!!!

Hammer, your position on changes to the coaching staff is very
clear. I would assume you are speaking tongue in cheek.
A team should always try to do it's best to win a game and it
certainly sends the wrong message to the athletes if they and
the coaches do not give their best effort.
I hear you though. A loss this week might mean curtains for the
staff.

I agree wholeheartedly. Athletes should never throw a game under
any circumstance . I have seen on many occasions players not
trying as hard when the game slips away from them, and when they
know post season playoffs hopes have vanished, and even that is
not acceptable. It will be interesting to see if they play
spoiler with UA possibly making the post season or just lay
down.. I will venture to say if Pat Irvin is at QB again, he
will try his hardest to win. The defense is pretty much what I
was referring to earlier. We all know SB defense is capable of
shutting down top ranked teams...

Carbone has a sprained shoulder. depending on how bad it is, I
assume he could come back. but this is a nice chance for Irwin
to get some playing time. we gotta get better play out of the
QB position. once again this season proved that you cant rely
solely on the running game. why did the coaches put Litotine in
the game last week? they had not used him much all season. I
mean, I'm glad they did, but why'd they do it?

Priore said on the CAA weekly teleconference that Bedell was
banged up going into the game and could not continue.
The coach did not specify the injury or comment on Stacy's
availability this week.
I presume that is why we saw more of Liotine.

Don't buy into the media & that statement #33 should have been
playing the whole season he brings a down hill running style to
SBU running game; he runs very hard.
Has had opportunity to move the ball better in the passing game
& the staff has elected not to use the RB,FB,TE in the sort
passing game.
They had 1 pass play last week to Slot and gained 17 yards; why
would you not use this more often. We have the players & it
comes down to the game plan & using them.
Carbone will not be back this season.

they have to find another QB for next season. Carbone had his
shot last year and this year, not much improvement... they need
to find a JC kid just in case Fields does not work out. the O
is very one dimensional, lots of running and then predictable
passes. I agree, they don't use the TEs and RBs in the passing
game. slot pass works, but they hardly run it. there must be
many other passing combos that can be tried. I told this board
earlier that SB has tons of plays in the playbook, they run them
in the spring and in practice, but they only run about 10-15 in
actual games.

Liotine should have been a major contributor all season. I'm a
big Bedell fan, but Liotine might be the best RB on the team.
They at least should've been a great 1, 2 punch. As far as
bringing in Gowins you already had 3 rbs who could play, Isaiha
White was wasted this yr playing LB on 3rd down passing
situations. Should've redshirted him and saved a yr of
eligibility. I'll give u one disturbing stat that defines this
offense. In the 3 seasons Bedell has been here he has 1 catch.
What a waste of talent and speed. Running him between the
tackles like he's 235 is a waste of his talents especially when
they had Liotine to do that. Not using Bedell like they used
Jackolski is mind boggling. Time for a big change.

That is disturbing and another reason why a change is needed.
Why dont they use the TE more effectively? Who knows. But I'm
glad you are finally understanding what I have been saying all
along.
Coach P is not capable of taking this team to the tops of the
CAA and he knows it. He is frustrated and knows his job is on
the line. I say that as a matter of fact and not talking from
emotions.. At the Rode Island game coach P was seen giving a fan
in my section the middle finger when that fan was yelling at the
coach to step up his game. I witnessed it myself.I wonder if the
cameras got him doing that because that is clearly in violation
of NCAA rules and he would be fined big time... He needs to go
and go this year!!!!!!
