Campi47 I agree with you about Jordan Gowins I think that
Liontine filling in for Stacy last year did a good Job, So they
should have rode with him again this year.
My son is on the team and we played against Fields in high
school and as far as high school he was great and smart. And my
son says he is they best QB on the team now.
So hopefully he can handle the job next year and help turn the
offense around.

Clearly the game was a disappointment after the punt block and
return. It seems we are in movie Ground Hog day with the O and
its continuing issues, but for the life of me why can't we just
get the boys to alleviate the stupid and always costly
penalties.
The ones on O Line had an effect on the play calling towards the
end and the horse collar call did not help. The Head linesman
seemed to be in bed with the Gambino Family, and with #2 out, WM
had countless passes out to the flats for large gainers against
27 and 32. 20 missing the tackle for the safety could have been
a good sign since they were against the wind- but those are
should have could have scenarios, as opposed to the facts of
what we did/did not do.
As to the other QB-our son also told me he has a cannon for an
arm- but does not know hardly any of the plays- and if that is
true, then hopefully over the next several months we either
adjust our play calling on O (which I doubt) to fit more of his
former play calling, or he needs to step up and seek some more
help. I doubt even if we win the last two games we'll get a
playoff spot as others have said- because I for one don't
believe we deserve to be in the playoffs when we could not get
the job done last week.

Who's fault is that if Fields doesn't know any of the plays
after 10 of the season??? Comes down to the coaches once
again!!!

OK. Clearly Hammertime, to you, its ALL about the coaches and
how bad they are and I get it. Let's have none of the personal
accountability on the players to understand and ask questions,
or get better so they can get some reps and maybe even challenge
for the starting job or be even disciplined enough to learn the
plays. Fields (or any member) of the team MUST take some
ownership, or they will end up in the basement, complaining
about unfair the system is... blah, blah, blah..

You are talking about 18 and 19 year old kids. These kids don't
know their ass from their elbows this is the reason why they
need to be groomed by the coaching staff. If an athlete doesn't
listen to their coaches and don't perform to their expatations,
they can and should be thrown off the team. Athletes should be
responsible for learning plays and getting stronger, faster in
the gym, but ultimately it's up to their coaches to steer them
in the the right direction. ..

Fields was not brought here this year to play. QB position has
a lot to learn before he can play and that will happen during
the off season. They don't have time to train him now during
season while they prepare for games week to week. So they had to
do with what they had this season

Not true. So if Carbone and and Sophomore Pat Irwin go down, We
shut the doors to the rest of the season?? No!!. The only thing
I can think of Fields was redshirted and they dont want to burn
his redshirt year.. Fields should be ready to go with Carbone
and Irwin if they were to go down..

Man I think these discussions just seem to go nowhere. First
off, where did I mention that he was expected to play? I did
not! But, to say he needs time and the QB position takes longer
is just a bunch of beans as my Grandfather used to say.
He is ON scholarship and that means (as I was-and our son) that
YOU are EXPECTED to be ready. Lets just cut the bull and look at
the facts. In EVERY D1 program the NCAA allows a team 20 hours a
week to practice (if you don't believe me- well that's on you)
and if Fields came in August he's had 20 hours a week for the
past 4 months to "learn the plays". That's a rough total of 320
hours to learn the playbook. I am sure, he is in EVERY play at
practice, and during the game day and film breakdown sessions-
just like the others on the team!
Heck- there are true freshman kids STARTING at QB and other D1
programs and throughout the US is something that EVERY kid in
ANY D1 program will need to be able to understand. If you want
to believe its a only coaching issue of not preparing them well
then fine that is your opinion.
As to a kids age- I grow tired of hearing about kids not being
ready at age 17-18-19- because EVERY WEEK these kids go out and
earn the right to play a game.
But then when I grew up, our role models (mostly our Fathers and
Uncles) served this country at 16-17-18 and had a shorter time
to get their game ready face on, with a redneck E5 Drill Sgt.
for 8 short weeks getting then ready for a much more different
"game". Finally those of us who also played D1 never thought we
had time to get ready. And you know why? Because we knew that
there were guys who wanted to take our scholarship or wanted to
play, and if the guy in front of me went down, I had to be
ready, and the team counted on it.
I am not going to sway anyone's opinion here- so I will just bow
out, and let the three or four of you left to post to your
heart's content- with keeping the blame on the coaches and
making excuses for kids not getting ready.

NY..
Let's be clearer...
20 hour week of practice on the field....
6-8 hours week going over films and game plan for the upcoming
game; the whole offence participates.
4 hours week doing lifts....
The biggest thing i see there is no clear vision & chemistry to
this offence & yes that come down to coaching clearly...tis has
been going on for 3 years.
they are 119 out of 122 on offence.....THAT IS A Big Problem
Clearly....
Attendants: 5,800 last week; very poor showing.
Delaware averages 12,500
JMU: 27,000
SBU has a long way to go & they need to address these current
issue w a clear vision. If they cannot then the money will dry
up coming into this program.

SBU Football you hit the nail on the head . No vision . I
watched us fall behind at New Hampshire we have no chance of
catching up with our run oriented offense. Same as William
and Mary we could not catch up even being down only one TD .
Our special teams and our punter are the best weapons we have
right now. The offense is just completely predictable and most
of that is on the coaching staff . Once we get behind we are not
a threat any longer .
