O.K. guys, calm down. I saw the glass more as half full.
--Yeboah's a beast. Scored 19, I think and had a great
all-around game.
--Sekunda was outstanding in his shooting.
--Saintel, provided he can cut down on some mental errors, is a
fantastic athlete and exciting to watch. I expect a lot of
alley-oops this year
--I thought that although his long-range shooting was off,
Almonacy shoed the maturity and ability to perform at point. In
the scrimmage earlier in the year, he definitely showed he can
shoot as well.
--Woodhouse looked more aggressive then previous, and I thought
he will be fine.
--Sturdivant shows improved movement around the basket and
excellent rebounding skills.
I am cautiously optimistic!!

Very difficult to see strengths in an exhibition against a much
weaker opponent, perhaps easier to see weaknesses in such a
game. Agree with SBU Gold's assessment of good things from last
night. Especially Yeboah. Again, so difficult to tell
considering, but the guy is big, works hard, and seems to
position himself very well on the floor around the basket. More
than his points, I was impressed with his positioning and drive
to rebound. A player like him can be VERY good in the AE.
Despite the goods and bads I thought all of the perimeter
players looked solid. Especially the new and younger players,
who all looked poised for a first game. Overall I liked how the
smaller players pushed up the floor and moved the ball.
Down low I believe SBU is going to really struggle this year. A
much clearer assessment will likely come from the Columbia game,
as they have several experienced D1 bigs. For the time being
I'll withhold further judgement, but I think Yeboah is going to
be responsible for a lot of the interior presence this
season....

To echo some earlier comments, the story for the scrimmage for
me was Yeboah. He scored some buckets and pulled down a ton of
rebounds. I'd be shocked if he deosn't lead the team in
rebounding this year. Like Movieitfred said, he's the kind
player that can be great in the AE. It also looks like he has a
little more skill than the typical undersized America East
forward.
