Hey we are 3-0. We won homecoming and we are in 2nd place in the
CAA...
Plenty of positives.
It was a great day yesterday and even thought the homecoming
crowd was weak in comparison to the 2011-14 years it was still a
good crowd. Definitely not 12k... more around 8,000 taking into
account the people standing/walking around
Move forward and BEAT Delaware!!!

While I agree on many of these comments, there are a few that
once they review the films might have a second take. Penalties
(seems like for the past three years is a weekly discussion
point) and yesterday was no different 10 Penalties, and many of
them were in critical situations and dead ball or after the
play. Clearly, this is BOTH a coaching issue and lack of
discipline from the players. Prime example was number 47 on TWO
back to back penalties.
The calls by the refs were very poor- but this is what Refs do.
They know that if you are an undisciplined team prone penalties
they are always on the look out and each week our boys continue
to prove this point. The goofy "do over" call by the refs,
should be reported to the CAA- because to my knowledge there are
no do overs.
While I don't want to compare our young men to the Army/Navy
types of games- all you need to do is watch the yearly match-up
between these two service academies' and see just how
disciplined they are. Another stupid penalty when we jumped
offside when RI was punting the ball when it was 4th and 12. Our
guy was not even in the mix to try and block the punt-so why
would you do something so undisciplined. #19 with his
unsportsmanlike after the play deep inside URI was another
bonehead mistake- and maybe that is why he does not get in much
these days.
As to our kicker, from what I saw in the stands is that the line
completely broke down and there were three guys in the back
field. Heck they even almost got to our punter twice. I am
willing to bet once they look at the film it will show the line
broke down. I am a betting man- so if I am wrong, the first beer
is on me!
I know there are some folks here that have an "inside" track to
what the coaches see, so let's see what they say. As I have said
before, it just amazes me to see how our guys cannot get up for
games that we should clearly smack in the mouth early on- so
that by the fourth quarter we can put some of our other guys in
for some reps.
Defense once again was AWESOME and we had some nice punts to
flip the field or put them in difficult starting positions. 41
finally made some nice tackles, but 2 got burned again on the
long ball to the sidelines and seems it happens to him once a
game.. Nice job on the Punt returns as well, by 3 and some great
blocks to set him loose.
With our QB, there are times I am stymied to even write
anything, but from our view in the stand, he was just poor in
his throws and placement on so many passes (wonder on the fumble
between him and Stacy-was it a poor hand-off or what), and when
he is in the pocket, he reacts way too long and either gets
sacked or flushed out and then can't recover. but guess we
should be thankful that he completed some passes when he needed
to and in the end- it really is about the "W" but it was ugly.
Let's see what team shows up against Delaware!

NY....
I agree w penalties; the ref made bad calls in this game but we
do make to many personnel fouls.
You left out the 2 missed field goals; i found out the block was
due to the lineman falling down & he owned up on it.
This team has to be more dynamic in it's passing game; they are
easy to shut down in the passing game. We have no short game &
we have players on this team that can be an asset. We have not
used TE & RB at all in the last week weeks in the passing game W
the size & speed we have this is crazy.
The sports reporters were even talking about this from the
Towson game; you are not going to win big games if you dont
establish a passing threat & keep the backers off the line.
Delaware we be fired up for this game; we need to be more
unperdictable on the offensive side.

Game Day. I believe I did mention the two missed FG's but in the
respect of not knowing what happened EXACTLY from what we saw,
compared to what I stated they might see in the films and to
your point, I said some of you guys are tight inside with the
coaches, and with your response looks to be the case.
If we could clearly not make some of the mistakes on critical
drives with goofy penalties, that would be a great start. With
our QB, that seems to be the million dollar question as to what
Coach P will do after this season, but for now it looks like its
the #10 show the rest of the way.
I agree they might be up for us especially with the firing of
the HC. All our lads can do is try and play mistake free
football (I know that is a large wish) but one never knows,
especially so far this season!

We HAVE to get the QB situation figured out eventually- 6/16 for
64 yards is a laughable line against a bad URI defense that
hasn't stopped anybody this year. We have a lot of talent at WR
so its perplexing.
I just see too many missed reads, inaccurate passes, and
underthrown passes. We have amazing talent in the backfield and
a credible passing game would do wonders.
I'm of course happy that they won but forgive me if this game
doesn't get my hopes up.

I agree, MD.. The problem is SB cant.. I was told Fields, our
Freshman QB, is not good and is nowhere near ready to take over
as our starting QB this year or next. This did not come from me
but from a reliable source. If this is the case then SB needs to
desperately find a FBS transfer who can takeover the leadership
role at QB, otherwise this offense will continue to struggle for
years to come.. I say FBS transfer only because history has
proven coach P CANT recruit talented quarterbacks out of high
school, locally or nationally.. If I were a Junior QB in high
school and received offers from multiple FCS schools I would
want to know what kind of Offense that team utilizes. if that
school is a run first offense, then I would move on and look for
a school who likes to throw and use multiple play formations..
Of course academics supercede sports and should be the #1
priority when choosing a school, but in many cases we all know
that doesnt happen....

Those that make the polls feel a lot better about the team than
we do. I hope they are right and that we are indeed a TOP 25
team. Lets keep it going. Can't wait for the next game!
(guys, also I kept a secret for a little while... I'm enrolled
at Hofstra for the MBA in Manhattan program. but my heart still
lies at the Brook. Can't wait to see Stony Brook @ Hofstra. Walk
in with HU ID and then root for the Seawolves. LOL)
