Connor Davis #88 and Jackson Miller #76, got nice shout-outs on
the TV coverage for the game.

I also notice in the game #88 was open a few times down the
field & they never got the ball to him.
He a big target & would be a beast to bring down; i hope they
use the TE more they have good size on this team can help in
       the short game.

Game Day: welcome to SB football. ground and pound on first and
second down, then try to throw to a WR on third and long. the
use, or non use, of the TE position in this offense has
frustrated long time SB football fans since Wil Tye left the
       program two years ago.

I heard whispers that a few offensive players are thinking about
leaving the program after this year due to the lack of being
used in the passing game; these players also have good speed and
       good hands.
The coach only want's to use few WR on hot routes...
I checked stats & SBU ranks almost last in using RB out of the
back field & dead last in using TE in the passing game.....SAD
We have some good athlete with size & skill at each position.
       Stay tuned.....

we have so many potential weapons on offense, but Coach P likes
running Bedel and throwing to one or two WRs. weak. must be
easy for opposing coaches to game plan against us.

I have to scratch my head when I come check out this blog.
Commenters incessantly complaining about the quality of the play
of the QB (and in particular his passing). At the same time,
and usually in the same breath, the same commenters also are
complaining that the offense runs the ball too much and should
be throwing the ball more. I can't be the only person here who
sees the obvious contradiction in these complaints. And don't
tell me the answer is an untested true freshman that none of us
has seen. He may be the QB of the future here but there is no
basis to argue he should be starting right now.
Like it or not, we are (and should be) a run first team. And it
isn't as if the rest of the league is throwing the ball all over
the place. This is not the NFL. This is not the Big 12. This
is the CAA. There are only 3 teams in the conference who average
more than 200 yds per game passing. One of them is Richmond,
who we beat soundly with a strong ground game despite their QB
putting up big passing yards. The teams at the top of the
conference all average less than 200 yds passing per game
(Villanova, 160.8 passing yds per game, JMU, 188 passing yds per
game, New Hampshire, 164 passing yds per game). Admittedly, we
are averaging just 132 yds passing. Not pretty. But therein
       lies the answer.
The fact is, we do not have a conference-elite quarterback. We
do, however, have an FCS-elite running back and an improving
offensive line. As it turns out we also have one of the better
special teams return games in the league (despite some
admittedly knucklehead decisions by our returner). We also know
that we have one of the top defenses in the league (3rd in total
defense in the league to date). In light of all of the
foregoing, why would we put the ball in the hands of our QB and
risk incompletions, stalled drives, sacks or worse (strip sacks
and interceptions), when we can put the ball in the hands of our
RBs minimizing the turnover risk and relatively improving our
chances of first downs, scoring and winning games? At the same
time we are eating clock, keeping our opponents' offenses on the
sidelines and resting our defense (front line lacking of depth
       due to injury)?
It is unfortunate that it appears that so many of you are unable
to enjoy this season, and seem more focused on calling for Coach
P's head than the on-the-field wins & losses. We are halfway
through the season and the team is positioned to make a run at a
conference championship and/or an at large FCS playoff berth.
Surely, anything can happen, but we are in the thick of the race
at the top of the conference right now. We have beaten 2 top 20
teams, and we only have 2 games vs teams with winning records
the rest of the way (#19 Albany, averaging 129.6 yds passing per
game by the way, and #25 New Hampshire). If ground & pound
together with 15-18 pass attempts for 150 yds and 0
interceptions gets us to the post-season that is just fine with
       me.
       Let's go Seawolves!
