Notes of the game; i was there...
#88 was key in several blocks 2 which help the team score TD; he
also made several key blocks that help sustain drives.
Badell look sharp on several runs; a few he pick the wrong hole
to run.
QB play was 50/50...still has a problem throwing left n on the
numbers; threw several low balls & players wide open. Why did
that not use 88# & other TE in the short passing; 88# was open
several times one time 25 yards down the seam & he never went to
second read.
There were a lot of missed tackles by LB & Backs; they half to
wrap & go through there legs....way to many reaches & grab
tackles. Besides this the D played good; i still see issue in
the pass D. The Towson QB got has good arm & could of torch us
more if the Towson coach elected pass.
Specially teams not good; they did not stay in there lanes &
look slow in getting down field.
D Line good job stopping the run; Towson has a few good RB.
OL Played better; still issue w sealing blocks on the edge....We
had several people with us & one thing we notice when #88 was
in the game they had good drives & good blocks on key running &
passing plays.
We all agreed that the offence needs to use TE & Slot back more
in short passing game; it will open the long ball & run. I do
not believe the 1 pass was thrown to a TE & maybe RB.
The offence has a long way to go to be more consistent in drives
& they need to find a rhythm that works.
This game they had several 3rd & 5 & they did not use a TE or RB
out of the back field....am i missing something. I seen these
guys at practice they can catch; got to spread the ball & be
more unpredictable....
This team can only get better & they do have players that can
make it happen; the staff needs to do a better job & this team
could make a run for the conference & they don't even have there
best D Lineman.
See ya at homecoming......lets have fun next week & make our
weakness our strengths next week & prepare for Delaware.

Agree that #88 is a great blocker. He played tackle last year
and hardly ever got beat. Also agree that they need to use the
TE's more in passing game. Good comeback victory. Hope they keep
it going!

im all for going for 6 yards on a 3rd and 5. cant undrestand
why teams go for 14 yards on those plays.
secondly maybe its just towson being tough in the box, but did i
notice we primarily throw to the flats? so if yes, then i agree
mix it up more.

Our defense won the game again, but I have to give credit to our
offensive line. They are huge and much improved. Carbone was
better in this game but he is still not a div1 caliber QB.
Notice how Towson QB was accurate with majority of his throws?
Thats a sign of a decent QB. We are in week 6th and Carbone has
1 touchdown from the air and 1 touchdown from his legs. He also
has 5 turnovers. If we had a decent QB yesterday SB could have
put up 50 points on Towson... SB also needs to work on special
teams, poor protection up and down the field..
After watching 5 games this year, I think SB is a very good team
on both sides of the ball except at QB. If I were coach P I
would probably put Fields in at some point to see what he can
do. Heck, Coach P did that for 2 years with Bednarski at every
game!!
We need to get to 7 wins to have a chance to make the Playoffs.
Tough, but not impossible....

Our D does have an issue covering pass; last week the QB only
threw 75 yards against Richmond & he threw 250 against SBU hat
is a concern to me. If we play a team that is more organized in
there passing attack we could get crushed.
I look back at other teams & we are giving up a lot of yards in
the passing game.
Coach needs to address this issue...
I am proud of the players getting the win at Towson; they had a
nice crowd at the game.....Great Job

I was also a little confused about what they were doing with the
TE; instead of using a FB they are bringing the TE in motion &
using him as a extra blocker through the hole.
When you have the size that we do on the edge w TE you should be
running the ball off the edge or passing to them. But the coach
has elected to use them as a extra lineman or pulling them &
using them as a extra blocker out of the backfield.....
We have 2 fullbacks; why are they not utilizing them as blockers
on the inside run; & using TE more on design passing & run
plays off the edge.
This team has so many options with the players they have. QB has
to make his progression; i notice several play that the TE & WR
was wide open 15 to 25 yards down field.
It seems to me that if the QB doesn't go to his 1st read that
he gets flustered or maybe he catches hell from the coach. You
got to allow your QB to go through his progression & make the
throw to the open route on the field & you half to get the ball
to the 1st down market.

We went to the game and I think there was about 100 of us there
in the section we sat in near the band. The three guys up front
were our "new" cheer team, and thought that was cool. I
remember someone posting awhile back that the "Asians" don't
attend football games and found out that there were 25 "Asians"
cheering Nolan on- so that was funny as well.
I will have to agree with some that I don't believe the D "won
the game", they made some great plays (especially the fourth
down stop when we needed it) as did the offense and was great to
come out in the second half and put some numbers on the board.
Regardless of whether we think Carbone is a D1 level QB, he is
who the staff is banking on- right or wrong. The Personnel
decisions rest with all the coaches in the end. Our opinions
here on this board, just allow us to praise, rant or just add a
"hmmm" to the discussion.
But several of us saw SH while grabbing a hot dog, and he could
tell we were not happy, and we did on fact let him know (for
what good it was). The play calling on second and third down on
short yardage was crazy and of course stopping our momentum.
When we did have momentum- instead of taking advantage to speed
up the play we actually slowed it down for Towson to make some
adjustments.
The tackling was poor from just the fundamentals and a lack of
wrapping up and even hitting low. I normally stay away from
naming kids but those of you who were there, know who I mean
where on multiple occasions they could not tackle. We seemed to
either completely miss or just want to hit everyone high and
then get dragged along.
The one play that got to a lot of us was the fade route to the
outside and right in front of us, where we had 5 Defensive
players on the TE who made the TD catch. That just seemed to be
unbelievable! 5 Seawolves on a TE and they still scored? And
some of our D Backs responded late to passes as others have
said- and they did not seem to turn when they should. Woods made
a nice break-up on the deep fade route to the left.
I give some credit to the O line for getting Stacy the
opportunity on the turnover play where he scored. That whole was
"huge". I am still baffled with AH on his punt returns and the
one TD near the end of the game. Why did he let the ball bounce
and then pick it up? I did see where he went off the field so
hopefully he is OK. But again, we got the W and that was great
to see us fight back and win.

The key block on the 4th TD was #88; he did a reach block & the
RB put the burners on & never looked back. Down the field the
block on the MLB by White was nice also.
I do agree NY tackling was poor at time & I also saw LB standing
up do reach blocking; they were not exploding through the ht &
wraping up.
I was baffled at times when 4 players were standing around 1
receiver & he sill caught the ball; i guess they cant play man
or don't elect to play man. I have also notice that the height
different with WR vs our CB & safety are much smaller and i
think that is a huge advantage at times for WR.

To all the good & bad SBU has beaten 3 top 25 ranked teams this
season; i believe Towson was mention in top 25 at the beginning
of the season.
if the can make there weaknesses there strength this team could
have a great year.... it will take better coaching & players who
are focus on reaching a goal this season....
See you at homecoming.....
