Congrats to SBU. Electric atmosphere at the arena. Here's hoping
for more good in the near future with this group.

just got back from the game. unbelievable atmosphere. iFed is
LOUD when the students are in full force. vermont early foul
trouble led to 3 (and nearly a 4th) foul out. all their bigs
       were done with 5min left.
dont know if anyone noticed- but warney's first half scoring-
ALL left handed. and half of the second half scoring too.

From very questionable calls by the officials to a historic game
by Warney, a lot of things went our way today.
But you know what? It's about time.
We earned that championship and deserved it from day one to
       today.
Congrats to Coach Pikiell and the team.
       GO SEAWOLVES!

Amazing game- Warney was Laettner-esque (only more likable).
Puriefoy hit some clutch 3's when the game was still in danger
       of getting out of control.
As unstoppable as Warney was I thought the guards all did a very
good job of getting him the ball. (It felt like he was fouled on
almost every shot…should have been a few more "and one's"…but
that could be from my biased perspective.)
As crazy as this sounds when I got home from The Den (is that
what we settled on?) I watched the final 15 minutes of the game
on DVr and was at the edge of my seat for the final few minutes.
For any Met fan that is old enough to remember 1986, today was
SB's game six. (again only SB more likable than the '86 Mets)

       great 30 for 30 reference.
warney, in his final send off on the stony brook campus, carried
a university and millions of long islanders on his back. and
yes, i also thought he was fouled on a lot of those layups. i
saw him take one jumpshot in the game, the rest were hooks and
       free throws. watch this:

basketball to accumulate career totals exceeding 2,000 points,
1,000 rebounds, 250 blocks, 200 assists and 100 steals. He
averages 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

this is why pikiell should be sought after at other campuses:
       --- Quote ---
       > Notable stat: 77. That's how many people attended the first
home game Steve Pikiell coached at Stony Brook, a loss against
Columbia on Nov. 26, 2005. Pikiell has remembered that number
all these years. And now the arena is filled for every home
       game. What a program turnaround.
       --- End Quote ---
       and for more context:
       --- Quote ---
       > Pikiell, who's won more games than any coach in SBU history,
took over Stony Brook in 2005. The program was in awful
condition. It was a Division II school a half-decade before he
got there. It faced probation, scholarship limitations and some
of the worst APR scores in the sport. The team won four games in
his first season. In his second season, the school's
administration promised him a new arena. Then the recession hit
and he had to wait seven years for that facility.

they need to talk. I am grateful for them as mentors.”

im right now watching jameel warney interviewed on ESPNU, and
       you can see tears.
       on to some non-game intangibles...
the fans really deserve credit for creating the atmosphere, its
truly a factor. attendance says 4109 but that cant be right.
       standing room only.
in fact, the athletic dept did such a great job making this such
a spectacle- it was really managed very very well. the music,
lights, graphics, dance/cheer squad, merchandise, its hard to
pull it all off and they did it very professionally.

vermont fans were classy, and SB fans were too- they usually
       are.
our record at iFed? if they were 15-1 this year, plus 13-2 last
year, that's 28-3. i wonder what the pritchard #s look like
       during the warney era. ourhouserules???
