       Game 28: SBU at Maine
   DIR By: Checkmate

       MAINE
       Record: 8-18 (4-9 AE)
       Last Game: L, 108-64, at Albany 2/14
Last 2 Seasons: This Year - SBU 81-54 here. Last Year - SBU
       82-39 there; SBU 80-52 here
       Notables:
       6-6 fr F Issac Vann 15.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 spg, .432 3 pt FG%
       6-0 so G Kevin Little 14.7 ppg, 1.2 spg, .348 3 pt FG%
       5-11 so G Aaron Calixte 10.4 ppg, .379 3 pt FG%
       6-7 fr F Devine Eke 10.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.7 bpg, .636 FG%
       6-5 sr G Shaun Lawton 8.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.0 spg, .447 3 pt FG%
So we're in an interesting spot. Are the recent results signs
that we're wobbling a bit or is it because we've faced the top
       two contenders back to back?
I'd imagine that many of you thought the streak would come to an
end on Wednesday anyway. They're undefeated at their place,
they're motivated, we're coming off a battle against UNH and due
for a setback anyway. How will the guys bounce back on their
       epic trip to Maine?
It should be noted that Albany lost in this spot a month ago as
Maine shot 57 percent to offset a huge day from Hooley. So
they're capable of felling a giant. That said, I saw very little
in the game here that suggested they could knock us off, but who
       knows?
It's clear we'll be without Sekunda for a while, so what's the
lineup going to look like as we make a push toward the
tournament? That's what I'll be looking at the most - how will
Pikiell use Sekunda's minutes? I expect we'll see Mitchell and
Nyama sprinkled in evenly in the minutes Bryan would have
played. Mitchell is no offensive force, but I do like his
willingness to take the ball into the belly of the defense.
Best of luck to Sekunda in his recuperation. "It doesn't look
       good" doesn't sound good.

If looks are any indications of Sekunda returning this season,
forget it. he's done. Like you said. Mitchell will be the
starter for Sekunda, not Nyama. This decision by Pikiell will
cost us another AE Championship.. I hope i'm wrong but this is
how I see how Pikiell rolling.
Pikiell decision to use Mitchell for most of the game over
Sekunda and the lack of playing time with Roland help to
contribute to our loss to UA...Coach P have better get out of
his continue slump with player distributions on the floor before
Tournament season otherwise the only fans sitting in those comfy
seats at IFCU next season and beyond will be Crickets and
Cockroaches, especially in section 111 row B seats 9 thru 11....
       Enough is enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Mitchell played pretty well yesterday. He took three
charges and aside from the air ball, did OK on the offensive
       end.
I think we could expect Albany, NH and Vermont to clamp down on
Warney (although you could still pencil in 12-15 from him) and
the bottom line is that Woodhouse and Carson will have to knock
       down their open 3's.

I like Kam. He shoots the 3 at almost 40% and plays better
defense then Sekunda. Kam seems hesitant to pull the trigger
sometimes and that is never an issue with Sekunda. With
meaningful minutes the next 3 games I think Kam will be ready
for the semi's and finals. Maine will be an up and down affair
so hopefully he can get 5 or 6 3's off.
Maine is not a good team, but this is our first real pressure
game of the year. This one is a must win to make sure we have
       the 1 seed locked up.

My hope is U Mass Lowell lays one on Albany this weekend . The
River Hawks are capable of putting up big numbers if they win
we are the top seed period. I fully expect to face Albany in
the finals I would be shocked if we don't . I expected a set
back the other night which is ok , it is very difficult to beat
the same team 3 times in a short period of time.

Let's make it official and done, SBU, and get this win. That
will allow for a brief downshift, enjoy the senior night (and no
pressure anymore to win out, so give the main guys reduced
mins/a rest), and then on to the AE tourney. Good luck!
PS, any latest on Sekunda? While hoping for good news I've
prepared myself that he is done for the year. If so, one would
hope with two starters from last year sitting on the bench that
       we're still in good shape.

SBB is still ranked 58th in the Country according to Ken
Pomeroy.. Even after losing to Albany. Impressive..

A little sloppy at the start but a solid win . Bring on
       Vermont.
