Game 22: SBU v. Binghamton
DIR By: Checkmate

BINGHAMTON
Record: 5-16 (2-6 America East)
Last Game: L, 74-63 at Maine 1/30
Last 2 years v. SBU: this year – SBU 62-52 there; last year –
SBU 61-54 there; SBU 64-52 here; SBU 62-57 in AE quarters
Notables:
6-6 so. F Willie Rodriguez 14.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 spg
6-3 fr. G Everson Davis 10.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.0 spg
5-11 jr. G Marlon Beck 9.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, .362 3 pt FG%
6-9 fr. F Thomas Bruce 5.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, .506 FG%
So what is it about Binghamton that has given our guys trouble
of late? In our last four games, margins of victory of 10, 5, 12
and 7. Considering how we've handled the first half of the
conference schedule this year, that's very good. Part of it's
defense – they held us to a season-low 23 made FGs in our game
up there and a poor percentage (.411). They even outrebounded
us, a rarity this year. We led 25-22 at halftime, but were
trailing as late as the nine-minute mark before turning on the
jets, going on a 12-2 run to turn a 43-41 deficit into a 53-45
lead. Sekunda hit two huge threes in that stretch.
BU actually defends it pretty well, holding teams to 44 percent
shooting. But they can't shoot. They really can't shoot. BU is
shooting just over 37 percent as a team this year, including 28
percent from long distance. They've had some abysmal nights – 17
percent against Michigan State, 24 percent against Penn, 26
percent against FIU. It's actually gotten better in conference,
with the Bearcats showing signs of life with wins at UMass
Lowell and over UMBC at home before dropping one at Maine. After
breaking 40 percent from the field twice in its first 15 games,
BU has topped 40 in five of its last six.

SB looking good. at this point, our only "bad" loss (if you can
even call it that) is NE.
the streak is 13 in a row and no reason it cant go a few more.
GO SB

Binghamton has the best defense in the conference according to
KenPom. Despite their record, this should be a good test for our
offense.

Never mind the records, Bing always seems to give SBU fits.
Looking forward to the game.
And reflecting on the attendance post from today, hope the
crowds keep coming especially now that students are back. No
matter what happens from this point forward, the games are
numbered to see probably the best team/senior class ever at SBU!

Stony Brook gets a vote in the Top 25... Is that a first?

Yes it is. SB is also ranked 36th in the National AP pole.
Extremely impressive for any team in the AE to get national
attention!

How in the world does BU have five wins this year? They seem
very solid. Being so young, they have a couple good years ahead
of them.
Carson too gunshy. We need his jumper right now.
BU doing a great job denying Warney the ball. Rayshaun feels
like little more than an energy guy on offense right now. His
jumper is shaky and he isn't polished on the block, particularly
going to his left.
Doesn't have to be pretty, boys. Just get the W.

Oh. That's why they're a five win team. Good W, fellas.
