I'll be at that ceremony too- I wonder if any tough questions
are going to be asked? I really want to know what Priore plans
to do with the offense that we've had to witness the last few
years. I've loved the defense but man, its really made me lack
enthusiasm when I see them lose games the same way, week after
week.
I hope somebody asks them what the plans are with the offense
going forward. We have a brilliant defensive mind but you can't
win with just defense and I need to see progress on the
offensive front.
I strongly believe the only way we can change our Offense is to
go out and recruit better players. SB is the only div1 school
for Football on L.I.. One would think we can attract local
athletes and keep them close to home, but this isn't the case.
Hofstra used to attract really good local athletes but SB cant.
The one main reason I believe for this is our head coach. Local
kids want to play for a coach they feel really comfortable with
and develop a strong bond.. It is my understanding that is not
really the case with coach P. We need a coach who has the skills
and talent to keep local athletes close to him and not go off to
schools like Syracuse or Buffalo.. In Basketball, coach Pikiell
is very good at convincing local athletes to come and play for
SB.. Perhaps coach Priore needs to learn from coach
Pikiell!!!!!!!

I think Priore has done a fantastic job recruiting local talent.
Victor Ochi, a Long Island native, might be our first ever draft
pick.

I don't think that's the problem to be honest Hammer. I can't
blame top end LI talent to go to Power 5 teams if those
opportunities are available. I can't think off the top of my
head any LI talent that has gone to a non Power 5 team that I
regret missing out on. Guys like Fredericks (Syracuse) and Coan
would be silly to go to a FCS team over the opportunity to play
Power 5 football. Coan is a once in a decade type of football
talent on Long Island.
I think we've done very well with the next tier of Long Island
talent. Long Island recruiting isn't the major problem with this
team IMHO. Execution and offensive playcalling are the big
killers for me. Like the Jets, special teams play has been a
recurring problem that should be improved.

Another problem with the local talent is many of them also play
lacrosse and feel they have better opportunities to play that
sport in College rather than Football
The last 2 years I have helped start a Skills Camp Showcase with
the Long island HS Coaches and last year we had 17 College
Coaches come here and work the camp there were about 65 players
who showed up this year we're hoping to get 100 players there
and 25 College Coaches.
Last year I run a HS Football website and I paid to have 4 Long
Island HS Teams to come to SBU's 7 on 7 I'm hoping to do that
again in 2016 I also brought in individual players to attend
SBU's one day camps but a lot of the players are busy with other
sports in the summer so they don't want to go to these one day
camps and I will tell you this I have been to them and Coach P
and his staff do a great job

I don't think that's very surprising. There were 17 players FCS
players drafted in 2015 and there are 125 FCS. That means every
team should have an NFL draft pick once every 8 years or so. How
long ago did we get to full scholarship football? 6 or 7
seasons?
Will Tye is an all-rookie NFL player this season. Ochi seems
likely get drafted, and even if he doesn't, hell get his shot in
training camp. I really don't think there's much to complain
about regarding talent. New Hampshire has been one of the
premier FCS teams in the country and we have just as many active
NFL players as they do.

North Dakota State has dominated the FCS the last 5 years and I
don't think they have a lot of players in the NFL
The FCS gets the player that might be just a tad short or not
fast enough even VIctor Ochi is 6'2 255 and how many DE's in the
NFL are that height
The other thing that is working against SBU when fighting for
recruits from LI are that for the 2016 Class there have been 3
stud players who were offered by them that are going IVY League
instead
I agree. Finding and getting studs to play in the FCS
when they're FBS caliber players is no easy task, but not
impossible, most of NDSU players are FBS calibers. actually, the
Missouri Valley, southern conferences have a ton of FBS
transfers and recruits who play in those conferences...The CAA
have there share too. I think we need a new style of coaching
and recruiters to find and keep these great football players to
come to SB. Not easy but not impossible..

Thanks, Campi! By the looks of it, the coaching staff is putting
a real premium on size in this years recruiting class.
