wow, holmes will no doubt be the starting QB, and he has not
even got to school yet. what happened to all the cheerleading
for Carbone?? I remember last year, one blogger was saying the
coaches "loved" Carbone. I guess his four-pick game vs. Elon
changed everyone's thinking. just goes to show that Coach P's
stubbornness of rotating Carbone with Bednarski last season was
a complete waste of time. what a joke.

No doubt. That's why he will have no say with calling plays this
       year on offense

The same offense will rear its ugly head again this year for
sure. I don't see any major changes this fall.

I agree, except I think the playing calling will be something
we haven't seen. This should be interesting!!

I believe Campi had stated in an earlier post that they had to
agree to change the offense to get Holmes. The qb from Stepinac
has the same tools. They have no excuse now, plenty of talent.
They have to use them the right way.

The changes to the play calling has a lot to do with the new
coach they bought in; to think they changed the playing calling
due to Holmes coming to SBU i believe is incorrrect.
They are trying to find new was to run the ball in the spread &
open up the short passing game. Holmes is able to throw the ball
well down the field while running ouside the pocket & this is
something we could not due well last year.
Changing QB during each game last year didn't help; & it did
expose issue with the young QB we have on this team. We have 2
healthy WR coming back a few good TE with good hand & 2 running
backs with the ability to catch balls well out of the back
       field.
This give SBU many more optiions on play calling; if the OL can
stay healthy & the skill level improve it could be fun to watch.

I don't follow SB football much. But is Coach P feeling a little
out of league at competitive CAA? May be he reached his ceiling
when we won multiple championship at the Big South. Is it time
for an upgrade at the most important position of our football
program, i.e. should Heilbron start looking for a new football
HC? Or am I missing something. May be it does take time to
       adjust to the CAA competition.

HMMMMM. It appears i am not the only one who feels this way on
this subject.. I strongly believe coach P is in over his head in
the CAA conference. He's good for the BS or NE conferences, but
the CAA might be little to competitive with the likes of JMU,
Villanova, William & Marry, heck lets throw Elon into the mix
now.. So to answer your question, IBOsbu, Coach P cant handle
the CAA conference, JMHO.. I think he has 2 years left on his
extended contract and if SB doesn't get back to it's winning
ways, I'd expect Heilbron wont be happy and will look for a
replacement who can!!!! p.s. some people totally disagree with
me about this subject on this forum, but that's ok!!!

As I said.. I don't follow SB football, or college football in
general much.. and have zero knowledge on football recruiting
process. I cheered for SB when we made it to the FCS
championship bracket..really happy that we are in the CAAFB now.
So I have no idea how to judge Coach P. But I just thought,
given the resources we have now comparing to 10 years ago when
we were in NEC, may be we should be little more ambitious.

Dont worry. Helibron is very ambitious, but his hands are tied
at the moment. Nothing going to happen with our football program
for another few years, may be 500 at best. I have a very strong
feeling we will have a new coach with big league experience to
help us move forward. This is how Heilbron rolls. He doesnt play
games and means business, he's proven that with the MBB~~
