Doesn't look like there are any changes from UNH. Cassell listed
       as the starting MLB.

good to hear about Cassel. he looked pretty out of it on the
sideline after that initial kickoff collision.

I believe they have already used Ryan in 2 plays against CCU &
he will be good at OT. Proper preperation to perfect
performance when needed; need to get 2nd string reps in when we
       have the game in hand.
       This team could be in the playoffs with depth at each position;
players will go down during the season.

Our OL had has 3 first-year starters and committed 5 penalties.
I would argue they're the ones that need the preparation.

       > Yes, the OL depth is a concern. Absolutely. But, putting an
undersized, inexperienced, outmatched and probably unprepared
true freshman on the field to spell the starters is not going to
accomplish anything other than burn the kid's redshirt.
Unfortunately, he depth problem is what it is at this point.
Maybe, just maybe, the coaching staff haw considered all of
this, weighed the pros and cons, and decided that it isn't worth
burning the redshirt on a promising true freshman who probably
isn't ready to go now unless we are absolutely forced to do so
by injury. If he isn't big enough or strong enough or skilled
enough now (not many true freshmen are), then even getting him
so reps at this point really isn't going to have him "ready to
go" in the event of injury to a starter in the next few weeks.
That, to me, would be sound reasoning, even though we are right
now an injury away from a big problem.
       > Further, if there are some non-redshirting-freshmen backup OL
ready to go I suspect we would have seen them by now, and we
probably will see them in the back half of the season when we
have the likes of Elon, URI and Howard on the schedule.
       > We will all keep our fingers crossed that the starters avoid
injury and continue to give us the outstanding effort and
production they have given us so far (perhaps with a few less
penalties). It isn't a great plan but it appears that its the
best we can do for now.
       > So, let's focus on the positives of the great season that is
shaping up before us and not dwell on things that perhaps can't
be controlled/changed at this point. Go Seawolves!

       Amen!
I am so bullish on this team right now. I think we're going to
really surprise people the next two weekends.
       Go Seawolves!

only Bullish? I think I'm borderline crazy at this point
I got myself posting on every football board out there. I can't
contain my excitement. Walking everywhere with my SB hat. I
can't wait for the weekend. Its going to be lock down at my
       place after 7PM
I haven't been this excited for SBU football in a while
Good times to be a SEAWOLF!

guys everyone relax please- spirited discussion is great, but
three things- obviously we are on the same team, please be
respectful in posting (remember LSU baseball fans?), and it's
possible that these conflicting ideas can somewhat coexist.
with that all said, as a former center, I am just happy we are
talking about offensive lineman! forget that term "skill
       positions"!!! ;D ;D ;D

By comparison, W&M has played 11 offensive linemen through two
games. We currently have 20 on the roster. Starters generally go
most of the game, but we have three backups who see situational
action. At Lafayette we had backups in most of the 4th quarter.
Injuries always hit someone on the o-line. Last year we were
missing all five starters at one point and played Richmond with
four of them out. That was the worst OL injury situation I've
ever seen and highlights the need for depth.

fingers crossed until we take on WM this weekend, and then lets
see if we really launch this program with a big win this
weekend. boys need to stay focused and not get complacent after
one big win last week against UNH, a team that was missing their
best QB. Our D can play with anyone. its our O that needs to
take advantage of every opportunity that WM gives us. we
squandered some good field position last week, and we were able
       to bounce back.

nice video story from CAA on our football program and the great
work some of the student athletes are doing with Uplifting
       Athletes.
