newsday:
HTML http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/stony-brook/brody-eastwood-scores-6-as-stony-brook-wins-opener-1.11479411
Eastwood, who had seven of his nine points in the first
half and had a career-high three assists, is now 24 goals away
from surpassing fellow Canadian Jordan McBride, who holds the
program record with 175.
His fifth goal came 19 seconds into the second quarter.
Stony Brook’s season opener displayed a team and star player in
apparent midseason form. “We’ve got a veteran group,’’ coach Jim
Nagle said, “so we plan to be a little more seasoned early in
the season. I thought you saw that today.’’
Challen Rogers assisted on two of Eastwood’s goals. He and
Eastwood could become the fifth and sixth Stony Brook players to
total 200 or more points in their careers.
the team looked great tonight. zipping the ball around on a
rope- goalies, defensemen, mids, everyone.
tyler anderson should be your new favorite player. all hustle
and then some talent, size, and speed to go with it.
if any one criticism, slightly too many flags. but that could
be a function of first game jitters.
our starting attack- zero turnovers. ben randall is a star in
the making and is one game into his second year. jeff reh is
making a case for the preseason AA honor he received.
whats different about this year? defense is much tighter,
especially team sliding and recovering. also, going to the well
early and often. lots of players out there today and we mustve
ran 3 different poles (anderson, rees, abdellatif). team speed
is excellent, these guys are in shape. fast breaks look in
midseason form. note that a lot defensemen nagle has brought in
are LSMs; no surprise then that they can move the ball upfield
and run the break.
17 goals on 14 assists, and only 38 shots. good stuff. perfect
on clears and EMD, and that's not common. GO SB
FEAR THE SEAWOLVES. Stony Brook looked impressive against
Sacred Heart. SHU was coming into the game with a bit of juice
after their win over Lafayette last week. But the Seawolves were
hungry and they feasted on Tuesday.
Brody Eastwood, Stony Brook. Make sure the senior is well
covered this year, otherwise you're going to see him all over
the stat sheet. Eastwood exploded, bagging 6 goals and assisting
on another 3 against Sacred Heart. 4 of Brody's goals came in
the first quarter.

“We had a lot of kids out there early, and some young
kids out there early in the game,” Nagle said. “We’re trying to
commit to that early in the season, so we can get these guys the
experience. I felt like we lacked some depth at the end of last
year, and that, combined with some injuries, took the steam out
of out season.”
Nagle’s ball-movement-heavy offense and Stony Brook’s depth were
on display as seven different players added to the
scoreboard.
the johnnies just lost to Jacksonville in queens, 8-7. after
getting pasted by Rutgers, 19-11.
regardless, they have a pretty good attack unit and weather on
Sunday should be 50' and PC. GO SB
Stony Brook: Like many, I was eagerly awaiting the
Seawolves debut and they didn’t disappoint. Brody Eastwood
picked up right where he left off last year, notching six goals
in the game. But the part of his stat line that jumped out at me
was his three assists. The crafty Canuck had six assists during
the entire 2015 season. He’s at the halfway point to matching
those numbers already after one game. Eastwood is a goal scorer,
a grip-and-rip guy, but if he continues to add helpers, even if
its only 12-15 on the season he’s going to be even more
dangerous.
Quint says SB is Albany's only worthy adversary in the AE and
ranked us in the mid 20s.

COB was right on with his 1st game recap. Can't say enough about
Reh. He might be better than advertised this yr. I noticed that
they used him on some offensive sets. Also knee brace is gone,
looks faster this year. In addition to Tyler Anderson I liked
what I saw from the freshman Rees. Give Nagle credit this team
is big, strong, and athletic with speed. That senior class
including Reh and Lindsay, who were redshirts , is outstanding.
Just got to beat Albany.
