Black claims 2015 Frank Conti '11 Memorial Spring game
The Seawolves' defense wins, 22-17, over the offense
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The 2015 Frank Conti '11 Memorial Spring
Game that pitted the Stony Brook defense (Black) against the
offense (Red), was won by Black, 22-17, on Saturday afternoon at
Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
The Seawolves' defense was awarded points by stopping the
offense. Two points were given to a stop before the 50-yard
line, one point was given to a stop after the 50-yard line,
while four points were awarded to a turnover before the 50-yard
line and two points to a turnovers after the 50-yard line. The
offense was award points for touchdowns (6), PATS (1 or 2) and
field goals (3).
Stony Brook's defense collected an interception and a fumble -
each earning four points - in addition to six stops that
collected a total of 14 points. Sophomore DB Darin Peart
(Brooklyn, N.Y.) recovered the fumble and junior DB Kyle Morgan
(Somerset, N.J.) pulled down the interception. Morgan also
recorded seven tackles, while sophomore S Reggie Allen
(Frostproof, Fla.) had a team-high nine stops.
The Seawolves' offensive points came from a field goal and two
extra points by junior place kicker Pryemyslaw Popak (Yonkers,
N.Y.), and rushing touchdowns by junior RB Tyler Fredericks
(Lawrence, N.Y.) and sophomore RB Anthony Anderson (Commack,
N.Y.).
Fredericks led the Stony Brook rushing attack with nine carries
for 87 and the touchdown, while Anderson had 40 yards on 11
carries and the score. Sophomore RB Donald Liotine (Medford,
N.Y.) collected 68 yards on 12 carries as well.
