UWLX plans to kick off with teams in Massachusetts,
Maryland, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. This summer, each team
will select its first five elite-level athletes to create a UWLX
All-Star Team that will compete in tournaments during the summer
and fall. The four teams will draft their complete 17-player
rosters before the beginning of the first season, in the spring
of 2016. All operational expenses will be covered by UWLX, which
hopes to model its approach on similar burgeoning women's
professional team sports.
article also mentions former asst coach, Alyssa Murray.
mock draft includes a few seawolves:
4. Stony Brook
Number of Starters Lost: 3
Starting Goalie Graduate? No.
Percentage of Point Production Lost: 19.05%
The 2014 season made program history – and they only graduate
three seniors. The Seawolves have been known to do well with
such a young squad and although they had a slipup against
Princeton in the second round, they will be coming back more
determined than ever with a chip on their shoulder. They only
lose 19 percent of their point production, which includes
Michelle Rubino who was ranked fifth on the team offensively.
Kylie Ohlmiller, one of three freshman Tewaaraton nominees in
2015, returns alongside Courtney Murphy, Dorrien Van Dyke and
Taylor Ranftle. Plus for one of the top defenses in the country,
Stony Brook graduates only two defenders and returns all of
their goalies.
It's good to see both our teams in the early pre season Top 20
especially our Ladies almost at the top. Looking forward to
great season from both come 2016.
Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook
Just one of three freshmen to garner All-America accolades this
spring, Ohlmiller landed on the IWLCA Third Team after leading
Stony Brook to their most successful season in program history.
Starting in every game for head coach Joe Spallina, the Long
Island native led the Seawolves in assists (43) and points (85),
and sat in second in goals (42) behind sophomore Courtney Murphy
(71). The freshman also aided her team with four draw controls
and seven caused turnovers.
