2014: Game 11 - URI vs SBU 11/15 1:00pm
By: Chairman of the Board Date: November 10, 2014, 7:52 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Coming off of two straight CAA losses, SB hosts last place URI.
The rams are not just 0-6, they havent won a game at all. The
only game they came close to winning was at home against Maine.
Unfortunately for SB, it has fallen into the middle of the pack
in the CAA with a 3-3 record. Of course, all three losses were
quite close and winnable (OT against WM, lost by 8 to NH, lost
by 3 to JM), which could have easily put SB at 5-1 or even 6-0.
Instead, it turns out that likely all of SB's wins will be
against the bottom half of the CAA, which is a downer, but still
they played well against UConn and no one beat them by more than
a TD (except UND by 10).
Nevertheless, SB can win the next two against URI and UA and
finish up 6-6 (5-3). It should be cold and PC on saturday.
In other news, UA lost a close one to Delaware in the Capital
District and only boasts wins over Maine and URI. And yes,
Coastal won again, moving to 10-0 (8-0) with two home games
left. They were #2/3 last week in the polls.
GO SB

video was better today, ,my gripe was that the producer, whoever
that was, fell asleep and left the close up camera in action too
much. but a definite improvement over some of the horrible
video work we have seen this season
nice win, lets beat Albany

Nice win today 35=14 to finish our home stand. I didn't see the
game but our defense did another great job. Bedell had what
195 yards rushing I see more of the same next week. All in all
a solid win sadly to late to salvage the season. Beat Albany
and we are 6-6 and 5-3 in the CAA after our 2nd year.

Brrrrrrrrr, it was chilly at the game. However, fun game all
around to watch.
Some thoughts:
1. Bedell has legit homerun speed- once he hit the corner he was
gone. 195 yards reminds me of the good ole Big South days!
2. The O-line has come a long way this year- we'll be young but
the line showed a lot more discipline as the year progressed
3. How about Donavin Washington? His late season explosion has
been impressive. Not bad to have a sophomore as our #1 option
next year
4. It'll be tough to replace Will Tye. Look out for Josh
Valentin, who's an athletic freak, to fill in those big shoes
5. I'm liking our secondary going forward. Lots of young talent
in the defensive backfield.
Overall a couple of different bounces and the Albany game would
be possibly deciding playoff positioning. We definitely held our
own in the CAA this season. Teams will respect the Seawolves for
sure.

I'm glad to finish our home season with a win and a chance to
finish .500 next week. Family related stuff came up last minute
so I missed the game. Sucks not being there for our last game
but I'm glad we won. Finishing 6-6 by beating Albany next week
wouldn't be too bad. In the FBS that's enough to be bowl
eligible... in Big Boy FCS is not enough for playoff though
Overall, a great weekend in SBU athletics. I was not at the
opener for SB Men's basketball either. I'm hoping to show up at
Uniondale for the Hofstra-SBU matchup if everything goes well.
Go Seawolves!!!

we have some holes to fill next spring with graduating seniors,
but I like the looks of what is coming up behind those kids.
Washington will be very good, Julius Wingate should be another
good receiver. we have good RBs and our QB situation will be
stable with Bednarski coming back for one more year. I think
the coaching has to improve. honestly, some of the calls this
season are real head scratchers. the use of Kinder for four
full games in the preseason, and Coach P saying the preseason
"did not matter", when in fact it did, we needed two more wins
this year, and we squandered the preseason. then the JMU game,
where Coach P elected to try a trick play instead of putting
three points on the board, another huge mistake.
Here's to kicking Albany's a$$es next weekend.
