not sure how many of you watched the game, but it was a
disaster. In Kinders "best" game yet, the offense scored three
points. we got excellent field position in the second have on
three separate occasions, all inside the 25 and we came away
with ZERO points. I dont blame the entire coaching staff, nor
do I blame the O line. I put the blame squarely on the
shoulders of our head coach. he has refused to come to the
conclusion that John Kinder, home town hero from Long Island is
NOT a D1 QB. Yes, kinder threw some nice short passes, but when
the chips were down, and we needed some plays, he choked. Not
once inside the 25 did Kinder/Coach P take a shot with a pass to
the endzone. that speaks volumes to me about how little
confidence that P has in Kinder to make throws. and yet the man
that continued to let him play out there, after three successive
stalled drives and turn overs inside the 25 was Coach P. I
strongly suspect that Coach P made some promises to "someone"
that he'd give Kinder a shot this fall. well that "shot" has
cost the Seawolves a 1-3 record in the season. Now Coach P may
say that the QB gets too much blame in losses, well he might be
right, I split this blame between him and Kinder. Something has
got to change, and at this point, I see a 1-11 season staring us
in the face. we should easily be 3-1. North Dakota was
terrible.
I think our new AD has some difficult soul searching to do now.
We have tremendous athletes on this football team, but Coach P
is running this program into the ground. His authoritarian
approach to coaching may have worked at Trinity and in the Big
South Conf, but it will not work now, the evidence is clear.
Now others on this board have asked for coaching changes, now I
to believe that something has to be done with Coach P and his
play calling and personnel decisions or this season will be
lost, if its not already. he has a big multi year contract, so
he is sitting pretty, firing Coach P now would be costly to SB,
but maybe its something we need to think about.
as for the QB position, we have three other people languishing
on the bench right now that need to be give a shot. Kinder's
had his shot, he's done. Bednarski, Hernandez and Otranto
should get an opportunity to lead this team. Coach P's little
QB rotation game failed badly this preseason, now is the time to
make some changes with the coaching staff and with the QB
position. this ineptitude can not continue.

SB gootball ranked 9th in this week CAA poll, interesting
considering that's where the preseason coaches vote had us
pegged...

here is my last rant for this game: on the ND TV broadcast, the
announcers said that Coach P told them "I don't need a QB to win
the game, I just don't want the QB to lose the game". that
comment is very telling and prophetic, and shows how out of
touch Coach P is with CAA football, and big time FCS football.
each of the competitive CAA teams have a fully competent QB.
Kinder does not fit that bill, and P seems oblivious of that.
Last night, we needed the QB to win the game for us, put us in
the endzone a couple of times when we had golden opportunities.
But instead our QB lost the game for us with a pick-6 and a sack
fumble. If Coach P cant get it through his thick head that
relying on the running game alone will not win games in the CAA,
nor against Bryant, nor against ND. William and Mary may not
have much of an offense, but they do have a defense, and that
does not bode well for our talent starved QB situation right
now.

BFF. This board is stuned. I think you bring valuable facts to
the table that are mostly true and people are reading your posts
and mine but have nothing to really say in defense of coach P. I
mean, what can we do as fans? We voice our opinion on Forums and
thats all. Maybe some of us loyal fans to SBF should take it to
the next level and voice our concerns to the AD. I'm not sure if
it really matters but it plants a seed in his head and it sends
a message. . Last night after the game, I sent a text on Twitter
to SB Athletics letting him know we're frustrated this season..
I didn't get a response back but at least my voice was heard!

Lets give Coach P a bit more time. He has gotten us to the
playoffs twice a couple of years ago so we cant give up on him
so quick. I do appreciate the football IQ several of you have
here. I wish i knew as much as ya to properly makes an assesment
of last night game. Obviously I wasnt happy with what I saw but
im not sure where to place the blame either... shit just really
didnt go our way on the O last night
Im just hopefull that we can atleast give the crowd a nice game
on saturday. We really need it.
Last but not least, Go Seawolves

Ecasado. The reason a few of us are so upset with coach P is. We
know how talented our boys are on both sides of the field. The
problem we are having is with all the terrible play calling last
year and this year. I dont know if its comming from the
assistance coaches or coach P , but the bottom line is, it all
falls on the shoulders of the head coach..If the assistant
coaches are making bad calls then fire him. If coach P is over
riding them then he should be held accountable. This team is
good and should be competing at a much higher level this year
but they're not and thats the problem

What I think some of you diehard Coach P fans may not really be
thinking about is the current group of Freshman recruits on the
team (BTW- heard that one has already left the program-and yes I
do know this happens at every program) are saying... "is this
what I signed up for"? And of course the others who are sitting
and itching their heads, and thinking week after week this
reminds them of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day- and then the 2015
recruits? What do you think they are saying? Maybe this is why
we struggle to get some of the better recruits? It is a shame
our D is doing some great yeoman's work out there- and once
again STUPID critical penalties hurt us- and YES that belongs on
the head of Coach P! For some of you who still want to keep
drinking the Kool-Aid, you should go to the CAA website and look
at the stats and where we are- on D we are stellar and on O
(outside of Stacy B) we are cellar or near the bottom.
Luke Allen, might have over 100 punts this season if this keeps
up and that is crazy!
I do not think that many on this board (well maybe except the
QB' or relatives of Coach P) can honestly say we need to give
them more time. More time to lose more games, have more people
not attend the games, have more time to NOT think that SB is
serious to compete in the CAA? I say give Hernandez or Ortranto
a shot (heck that is a two system QB environment-so in Coach P's
world-that might work). To all of us, we do have an opportunity
to seek to ask the AD (who comes from the crazy West Texas
football area.. "do you watch the same games we are seeing?" If
Coach P cant get the job done- so what about his contract. Pay
him off and get someone who at least can see that this system is
not working. It certainly won't be the last time a coach was
paid off- but like the others this is going to turn into a
"frustration" fan forum over the next few weeks, and not
something I want to see our boys go through time week in and
week out.

Ecasado; I hear you, SB faithful have watch Coach P bring this
program from obscurity to notoriety in a short time. however, I
think his authoritarian style of coaching will not work at this
high level. I bet that if you polled the other offensive
coaches, Behrman and others, they would not be putting Kinder in
at QB. The kid threw for 172 yards last night, but was sacked
FIVE times. if you watch the game again, you will see that on
several of those sacks, he double pumps and hesitates, and that
causes the sack. And on a couple of those sacks, he double
pumped when the only receiver on the route was running a bomb
down the side line. what do you need to double pump for on that
play, just chuck it, and let your receiver find the ball. In
short, he has to read and throw, quickly, both of which he has
not demonstrated. if he cant do that at this level, he does not
have a shot at QB. One more example, on one roll out pass play,
he pulled the ball down to run, with two blockers in front of
him, then he inexplicable cut back to the middle where he was
immediately tackled. His supposed "athleticism" that Coach P
has raved about, has not materialized. In fact, his belief that
he can out juke guys like he did in High School is killing us.
we dont need a super athletic QB, we just need one that can make
more than ONE read, find a secondary or tertiary receiver, and
release the ball. I am sure that Behrman and the receivers
coach see these gaps in his skill set, but may be afraid to
challenge coach P on making a change. Putting Bednarski in for
4 meaningless plays at the end of the game was a complete joke.
what kind of coach does that?????

The coaches might need to switch a few players u on the O line;
but the QB position is a problem. We half to get rid of the ball
with 2 sec; 7 they half to install a read offence.
The QB & coaches will need to change up plays on the line after
making the reads on the D; when they stack the line you half to
have qucik slants & short post routes.
This will force the D to back of into 3-4 man front.
It only going to get tougher the next couple of weeks; we are
playing bigger & faster Defensive lines the next 2 weeks.

those things. Btw, how is Connor Davis doing?
