I only read this board. I never post because of the incredible
negativity. Hard to believe you guys support Stony Brook
considering the vitriol. The football team hasn't played a
meaningful game (CAA) yet. Every CAA school other than Albany
has played an FBS program. So what if you lose early? The
men's basketball team has the toughest non-conference schedule
ever. You gonna abandon ship if they start off 3-9?

To begin, I don't think we had more than 2000 yesterday (they
were giving away bags to the first 1000, we got there 10 minutes
before kickoff and they still had plenty...) Bad weather, D2
opponent, and anemic performances will definitely kill a crowd.
Can't complete passes (Bednarski 1-8 for 11 yards and a pick...)
If the O-Line can't control AIC, I don't like our chances
against the CAA.
Discipline was atrocious. A lot of stupid penalties (how many
personal fouls for taunting?). The coaching staff started to
get frustrated, and then they got popped too.
Missed another XP. Ugh.
Bedell's knee looked bad. First impression seemed like a season
ender.
Sadly, I did not see one reason to be optimistic about the
remainder of the season. Maybe we can compete with Elon,
Albany, and URI. Maybe.
And yes, if hoops starts 3-9 and shoots 15% from the field, and
barely beats USMMA, then I'll voice my disapproval.

Captain. SB is a better team then what we've been seeing
lately. The problem we're having is with the play calling on the
field. When you have talent on a team but it's being wasted
because of terrible coaching, fans become upset. If SB was
playing 5 FBS teams in a row that would be different if you want
to compare SBB schedule to SB Football... I believe our current
coaching staff has plateaued and aren't capable of taking us to
the next level in the FCS. Lets see how well we do next week in
ND. Maybe I'm wrong. I really hope I am wrong, but this is my
observation and opinion of the team!

A sports team is not like a child where you're morally obligated
to support them through thick and thin. Ultimately sports is
just entertainment. When they stop entertaining, l, they lose
support

2-3 years ago Coach P had assembled a truly impressive staff of
young, up and coming assistant coaches. They were a good group.
Guys like Hatch, Woods, Goff, Santucci to name a few. These
guys were great guys, great teachers and great coaches. They
were all positive guys and good motivators. And, they related
well to the players. Sadly, they have all moved on. I don't
think we should underestimate the impact of this loss.
I mention this because having been to all 3 games this year,
there just seems to be something missing on the "intangible"
side. The team just seems to be missing something in terms of
attitude/drive to win. I don't know how to describe it. They
just don't seem to present as a team that carries a lot of
confidence, a killer instinct, a winning mentality. Maybe that
is difficult after an 0-2 start, but even in the season opener
vs Bryant they didn't seemed to come out uninspired.
One other thing: I loved seeing Kenner get into the action
Saturday night. He may be the best back we have. It is clear
now he isn't being redshirted. I hope he gets more consistent
playing time the rest of the season. Despite the fumble on the
last series Saturday night, I thought he ran the ball extremely
well, as he usually does. He always manages to get positive
yardage. He wastes no time getting into the hole and up field.
I have been disappointed that we haven't seen more of him before
now.

Bedell is questionable for Saturday. Nothing serious but
probably will sit out of this game and get ready for conference
play. My opinion!

This week's depth chart is out, and there are a few things I
noticed:
-- Much to my chagrin, the QB order remains the same. I would
sure have liked Hernandez to get a shot based upon what we've
seen to date.
-- Bedell's injury can't be too bad because he's still listed as
the starter. The disappointing thing for me is that Kenner is
still down at #4. Based upon Coker's performance to date, I
would like to have seen Kenner move up.
-- The wholesale juggling of tackles and guards continues. I'm
no expert on OL play. But it seems to me that if the coach
keeps shifting guards and tackles around, especially from one
side of the OL to the other, it probably will lead to assignment
confusion and miscues.
-- No kick returners are listed, but I'd be surprised if Bedell
is still returning kicks this week, if he has any kind of injury
at all.\
-- Connor Davis must be injured, as he is not on the depth chart
at DE, and has been replaced by Anuh.
-- Graham Ball has been listed as the primary PL every week, but
Popek has started each time. Any thoughts?

I didn't see Connor Davis go down but it's hard to tell from the
stands if he got hurt or not.... I really hop RS/F Anuh plays
well at the DE position so Davis can go back to where he
belongs, TE.. Geeeees!!!!!

Conner Davis was in street close on Sat with a noticeable limp.
