Thanks for joining us Biggest Fan. I read nothing into
bednarski's first throw, he came I cold off the bench. What no
one comments on is his second throw on third and short, he hit
Coxson in stride on the hands and coxson flat out dropped it. A
catch would have been a first down. Bedell is fine, yes light,
but fast. He needs to be complimented by a bigger back like
Fredrick's or Coker.

Thanks for welcoming me in. I agree with you. I thought they
would pound and wear down the defense with bigger backs so
stacey would be able get through. We will see what happens next
week. Go seawolves!!!

I want your guys opinions on this. Late in the fourth quarter
Kinder threw a bomb into the end zone for Coxson on one on one
coverage. In my opinion, Coxson needs to win that 9 times out of
10. I'm not saying Kinder had good game in any way, but If
Coxson is able to catch that pass, which I think a #1 reciever
should be able to do, we still win that game.

I agree with your assessment, sbufan. While I thought Kinder
certainly had a terrible night, it is true that in addition to
the TD pass, I thought he was right on target to Coxson on two
other occasions. I think that one, as you mentioned, should
have been caught. The defender mad a pretty good play on the
other.
That said, I think Coxson would have been a lot more open on
several occasions had Kinder been able to take proper advantage
of his other weapons--mostly Level and Tye. If he can get on
target with those guys, things will be a lot better.

Some thoughts about the game:
1) The game would have been very different with a
significant number of players who missed all or part of the game
due to disciplinary reasons playing. I wish the players would
have some type of understanding that they need to put their own
selfish wants and obey team rules. I think these players only
see the consequences of their actions affecting themselves and
there is no culture present / peer pressure that results in them
understanding that they have let their teammates down.
2) The dropped TD pass to Coxson was definitely a pass
interference that wasn't called. The defender never even looked
back at the ball.
3) Coach's strategy of bringing in transfers definitely
has quickly raised the status of the program. However, I believe
the downside will begin to manifest itself with future
recruiting. What player wants to come to a program, get red
shirted for one year, sit on the bench for 2 more years and then
when he thinks it is his turn to start, finds a Junior College
or D1 transfer taking his place? There are some FCS programs
that do this consistently and there are some that don't. We just
got beat by one that doesn't. Recruits notice these things.

Good comments sundoc. QB Hernandez must be frustrated camper.
His third year in the program, he has only seen the field for
place kick holding

some additional thoughts on the transfers. I give Coach P a lot
of credit on this subject. I think he thoroughly researches
potential transfers to see if they will be good fits to the
program. he probably looks at the reasons for them leaving the
former school, personal characteristics, etc. Also, i am sure,
makes some analysis as to whether that transfer will be a good
fit with the program. Will that person upset the chemistry of
the team, or not. take for example the new LB we got from
Oregon. from what I understand, he just plain quit the Oregon
team. i did not hear about any discipline issues etc. I assume
Coach P thinks he is a good risk, high reward kind of kid to
bring into the program. and how can we forget Miguel Maysonet,
a transfer from Hofstra, or Mr. Coker a transfer from Iowa. all
these guys have added immediate value to the team. and prior to
the Coker Game 1 suspension, I had been hearing that team
chemistry was very high for the 2014 squad. clearly, there are
some transfers that don't work out. Art Doakes, the OL from
Pittsburgh did not make it. he was released by the program
after one year, for "issues". so coach P is not afraid to admit
mistakes with these transfers, and cut ties with them if
necessary. and as fans, we have no idea how many potential
transfers that Coach P turns away. Bednarski and Kenner were
recruited from their JCs to come to SB, they did not seek SB
out. Coach P must have thought he had an immediate or upcoming
need for an experienced JC QB and RB a couple years ago, and
they went out and recruited them.
One final note on this subject. I reported last week watching
the Sam Houston/Eastern WA game, that Sam Houston had picked up
10+ FBS transfers after spring ball this year. all these guys
were now starters on the Sam Houston roster. SB does not do
that crap. that would indeed be demoralizing to the rest of the
team. I think SB strategically recruits transfers to the team,
its not an epidemic like it is in other programs.

NDSU leading ISU at the half by 3.. These guys should just move
up and out of the FCS already!!!

Game went badly. The thing that bothered me was we never sent
more than two receivers out on routes. Bryant doubled our WR's,
stacked the box, and since our O-Line played terribly, we were
hosed. At no point did we have an offensive drive,
Bedell is very fast, but doesn't seem to have power/balance to
avoid going down after first contact.
Bryant dropped at least 4 interceptions (possibly more).
Kinder has happy feet, and that sucks for us (I'm not going to
rant about this, I did enough of that last year with Negron, so
just go back to those posts. Same complaints apply...)
Something that we were discussing were regarding the transfers.
In my opinion, they are "more talented athletes" than our
organic players, but it also has to be acknowledged that if they
were quality players, they would've been kept by their former
teams.
Honestly, I really think that Priore did a wonderful job, and
built the program extremely quickly. But now we're experiencing
the growing pains. Not to be doom-and-gloom, but 5 years ago, I
remember looking at Liberty and being amazed that we were
playing a team with a possible All-American. Now we're competing
in the top conference in the FCS, playing numerous ranked teams,
and trying to build a permanent program. I would never have
expected us to be in this spot, so I really can't be overly
upset that we are getting whooped.

jaghatai, I'm also not too upset about the loss even though
losing to a NEC team ( a conference we left several years ago)
does hurt a bit. The reality is that programs go up and down and
its very hard to stay at the top all the time unless you are an
elite program like NDSU. We will bounce back eventually and it
may take a few years before we can legitly compete in the CAA...
but losing to NEC teams doesn't help either
Just hoping for a good showing that makes us proud against
Connecticut next week.
Go Seawolves
