Tough loss. But gotta move on. The sellout crowd was great.
Unfortunately we couldnt give them the show they deserve.
CONNECTICUT up next!

We were warned last week by one of our fellow bloggers that
kinder was inaccurate, and we saw that was true tonight.
Something has to change or this season is in the dumper.

This is going to be a painfully longggggggg season. We have the
dline coach frm last year coaching the Oline, I think coach P
will be going back to the Oline. This is the worst I've seen our
OLINE looked since the coach K era .

No reason to sugarcoat any of this...
The game was an unmitigated disaster.
Miserable O line play, no running game (85 yds), little if any
"escapability" (9 "rushes" for negative 34 yards) or accuracy
from the QB (7-18), a couple of big drops from the WRs.
The D played OK and only gave up 232 yards but certainly did not
seem dominant.
the punt return game consisted of 7 fair catches and 2 combined
yards on the 2 punts we attempted to return. We did have 102
return yards on 4 KOs but thankfully we only had 4 of them.
I am hoping Coach P and the staff can see some positives in the
film room, and I am sure they will, but there is not much to be
confident about looking ahead after tonight.
Off the field the game operations were "challenged" to say the
least but they should get a break on some of it because it was
their first crack at a "school night" game.
The best past of the night was the great turnout by the
students! They seemed to make up a third of the crowd. Let's
hope they come back for the American International game.

WE have to stick around for the good and bad. Just gotta move on
and look forward to game two against Connecticut. It was harsh
but in the bright side we had our third largest crowd in LaValle
history. 10,252 fans out there. That speaks volumes of were
Coach Priore has taken this program in a few years. The CAA and
a few wins can helps us maintain this momentum.
Hold on tight boys. DOn't give up just yet. Lets go Seawolves!!!

FCS football is Big Boy football. To play QB at this level, you
have to have a bigger skill set than just being athletic. We
have two other guys on the roster that have done nothing else
but play QB, they deserve a chance after last nights debacle.
I'm embarrassed for the other two guys if the coaching staff
really thinks kinder is a better option over Hernandez and
Bednarski. The play calling was so predictable:run, run, pass.
And the QB looked so uncomfortable back there that he could not
make decent reads or execute. My hat is off to Bedell, he ran
like a warrior. With no passing game to take the pressure off
the run, he was a sitting duck as the Bryant D line loaded the
box and waited for him. Our D was awesome. They were on the
field all night long because the offense was completely
ineffectual, yet they only gave up one TD. Hats off to them for
playing so well. Special teams did a good job also. Our punter
must have a sore leg this morning from all the work he got last
night .

I agree whole-heartedly with BFF. Bedell certainly has me as a
fan!! For him to accrue 116 yds on 27 carries with the way the
OL performed is nothing short of amazing!! The really good news
is that Coker gets to join him next week. So, if the OL can
muster just a little moxie, the running game should prosper.
I also think that Jaheem Woods, Christian Ricard and Jeremy
Leggiero had terrific games, especially under the circumstances.
So, that said, what about QB? I've said from the beginning I'd
like to see Hernandez get an opportunity. When I saw him at the
spring scrimmage (pre-Kinder, of course), I thought he looked
really good, especially given his limited reps. I'd love to see
him grow with the team. It's not like we have such outstanding
alternatives that we can't take the risk!!!

I got back hm at 4:30 am; long hard day guys...
i stated this was going to be issue for this to team...
This is my take driving for 4 1/2 hours a thinking it over to
many times...
O line needs help; i would go back to a 2 & sometime 3 TE set;
this will help in blocking & you opponent stacking the box &
will open up the short quick slants & out patterns. It will also
force more 1-1 on the WR.
QB recommendation is share time with Carlos great in the short
game; very quick release & Connor great with the deep ball.
Kidner needs to better understand this O & he stare down his
primary receiver every time. I also notice he second guess
himself to many times.
Defense very confusing at time; they use DE & LB in a lot of
stunts. They crash the DE down the line at time & if the LB
doesn't pick up the outside run & shed the block they gain big
yardage.
Over all on D played better then i thought they would; the guys
were dealing with a lot of minor issue before this game. There
were also players playing new positions this year. The D was on
the field a lot in the 1st quarter a they got tired in the
second half & several players were cramping up.
Biggest issues is O Line & QB; you half to have timing & the
Offense just didn't look quick off the line. If you see your
opponent stacking the box w several players & pulling the safety
up You half to audible into a quick slant or short post.
This was open & the offensive coaching staff never pick up on
it; to me you can't rely on the long ball. This is a higher % of
completion in the short game & it will help set up the deep ball
& running game.
Got have a 60/40 split in you play calling; or they will stack
the box.
Bryant did a lot of stunts & Stony Brook was not prepared
against this D; it was great play calling for Bryant. Remember
how he coach stated he was going to establish the run; they game
plan very well against it.
Next week Conn. & an even bigger drive; they have several hard
decisions to make; I am hopeful they make the changes. This team
is big 7 it's going to be a great place to watch the game; i am
hopeful Stony Brook is competitive.

I think the 1 and done QB problem haunted us last night also.
Our two back ups know the system but have yet to start and
Kinder doesn't know our offense and he starts. Now he is gone
after this year and we have to start an upper class rookie all
over again. This could and will hurt us long term as we just
saw. And yes the run, run throw offense was terrible. Lots of
work to do to make this competitive again.

First I want to say congratulations to the defense on a job well
done. Now, I watched the game and I couldn't believe what I was
seeing. The o line was non existent at times, the QB was clearly
over whelmed, and the running back is clearly to light. When the
second QB came in he nearly threw a pic on his first throw. Why
didn't Kenner play?? I am quite sure he is more experienced and
stronger. We need some power in the back field. He moved the
ball well last year. Why not spread the field? Most of the
players came from a spread offense. I guess I have to sit back
and see how this season pans out....GO SEAWOLVES.....SBU FAN NO
MATTER WHAT!!!
