Re: 2014: Game 1 - Bryant vs SBU 8/28

I'm curious what you guys think of the new parking pass...I
thought the purpose was to have people who pay in advance be
guaranteed spots in the stadium lot...but all of the press
releases I have seen from the school say that people can park
there on a first come, first serve basis for $10 a game. What is
to stop 1,000 non-parking pass fans from showing up first and
filling that lot ahead of everybody who paid in advance for that
parking? Or is it possible very few people bought the pass, so
they will let a decent amount of game day parkers get in there,
but not fill up the lot?
I paid in part so I didn't have to rush there to get a good
spot...I found last year I seemed to be getting there with
plenty of time left to tailgate (say 2-3 hours before game) but
right when stadium lot would already be full or be close to
filling.
Hopefully most of the season I am there early enough that it
doesn't matter, but tomorrow night with work, I want to be able
to get a good spot and be able to walk right into the stadium at
kickoff, instead of walking halfway across campus.

my understanding is that parking passes guarantee you a spot in
the main lot in front of LaValle. I also think only those with
Parking passes will be able to park there on gameday (at least a
section of it). That's my understanding if anyone else can
confirm that it would be great

I bought tickets for the Connecticut game. Who's showing up at
East Hartford next week for the huge upset?
I really hope I see a nice group of us there.

ecasado-I'd like to agree with you, but I don't think its the
case. The language below was taken off of a SB Athletics
Facebook post...I have seen similar language elsewhere,
including when I was mailed my parking pass. If they don't limit
the people who pay on individual game days, the parking pass
serves of no value:
Beginning with the 2014 season, the LaValle Stadium parking lot
will now be a reserved parking lot that fans can access by
securing a parking pass. Season ticket holders and fans can
purchase a $75 parking pass to guarantee a spot in the Stadium
lot closest to the gates for all six games this season.
Touchdown Club members receive a discount and will be able to
purchase the same parking pass for only $60.
Seawolves fans who do not purchase parking passes in advance
but wish to park in the Stadium lot or in the Gym Road lot are
welcome to park there on a first-come, first-served basis for a
charge of $10 per car. The Stadium and Gym Road lots will
both open six hours prior to kickoff.

Actually it really holds no value if the lot can fill up with
gameday parkers...I just realized the pass cost me $75, but
gameday parking is only $10...there are only 6 home games

Oh i see. I guess that If you don't buy the season pass you
still have a shot at parking there on a game-by-game basis as
long as you pay $10. But I'm sure that those with season passes
are guaranteed a spot since they already paid for it in advance.
I guess its the fairest thing for all. If a extra parking space
is free in the Stadium Lot, they don't want give it away for
free (to avoid angering those with season passes) and at the
same time it allows those that only attend a few games pay for
convenient parking while SBU makes extra revenue
for the future they should make season parking passes cheaper
than on a game-by-game basis to motivate folks to get their
passes in advance.

I'll be there with 7 other people.. I chose the lower level
seating.. I guess we find out where we're sitting on game
day!!!!

ecasado-I think in principle that's what they are doing...but I
just don't know how they know how many non-season passes to let
in. Its not like they open the lot to people without the season
pass after a certain time, it sounds like if you want to pay the
$10 you can roll in anytime you want, even when the lot is just
opening.
Perhaps they had a low turnout for season passes and will limit
how many daily passes they let in to ensure the season passes
can get a spot.

I plan to be there also, not sure where I'm sitting as I am
relying on getting some player tickets for that game.
