He was already voted one of Albany's five captains, and
Marr said Lyle has been more vocal in practice than in the past,
getting the offense on the same page as they work to develop
chemistry with new starting personnel, including several
freshman in the attack mix.
It will be even more different with their cousin, Ty, out of
playing time at Albany, too. He scored 41 goals last season, his
senior year. Miles and Ty accounted for 37.7 percent of the
Great Danes' points; Lyle 28 percent.
"All five of those guys, and Lyle, are all capable of playing at
any time," Marr said. "We like our depth. We like that we can
interchange some of those guys. A couple can play that four-man
position that we run, the fourth attackman. We really like the
depth. Three righties and two lefties that are paired up with
Lyle. He seems to be pretty comfortable with all of them right
now. We feel pretty fortunate about that. We're excited for some
of these young scorers to play with Lyle, and fill the net up
hopefully as much as we have the last couple years."
Instead of traditional three-man midfield lines, Albany runs
four pairs of two with a fourth attackman on the field. The top
six attackmen are all capable of playing in that spot, Marr
said, and the midfield returns relatively intact, losing just
one key senior.
And this might not be the final roster heading into 2015. Don't
be surprised if, by the start of the real season, the current
Albany group adds some transfers that will help boost the
offense.
Defensively, Albany has more work to do to solidify a new
starting lineup. In front of Riorden (54.9 save percentage in
2014), there will be three new starting defensemen and there are
eight players jockeying for those spots, although two long-stick
midfielders are back in Eric Cantor and Harry Erickson.

nor should they overlook how good that D was last year,
rated the 12th-most efficient defense in DI.
Cody Futia was a three-time All-America East defender who
started all 18 games last season and was the leader down low.
Doug Eich was a consistent presence from his sophomore year on
and, in addition to playing sound D down low, was a threat
between the lines, most notably including a big fourth quarter
goal vs. Notre Dame in last season’s NCAA Quarterfinals. Jon
Newhouse was a stalwart in his final two seasons at Albany, and
an all-conference defender as a junior.
any word on fall contests?
also, is tyler andreassi on the roster?
any new faces or surprise additions/removals?
is calvagna set to replace rowe?
are freshman like talay and anderson going to help plug the gap
where benitez graduated?
are we going to start grooming guys like sheets to fill in when
rooney graduates?

tony Brook, N.Y. - For the second straight season, the Stony
Brook men's lacrosse team will play 10 home games, coach Jim
Nagle announced Wednesday.
The Seawolves will play a total of 16 regular season games in
2015, including a pair of first-time opponents.
"This year's schedule will be as challenging as we've faced
since I've been at Stony Brook," Nagle said. "The early
non-conference portion will be a great test for our guys.
There's so much parity in the America East, and taking on Albany
and UMBC in our first two conference games will be challenging.
Vermont and Binghamton and Hartford always play us tough. We
also look forward to welcoming UMass Lowell to the league."
Stony Brook will open the season at LaValle Stadium against
Manhattan on February 7. The Seawolves beat the Jaspers, 12-8,
last season. On Valentine's Day, Stony Brook will head west on
the Long Island Expressway to face St. John's. Of the last four
meetings against the Red Storm, the road team has been
victorious each time.
Stony Brook will open a three-game homestand, beginning with
Division I newcomer NJIT, which is led by former Seawolves
assistant Travis Johnson, on February 20. Two days later, the
Seawolves will take on two-time defending champion Duke. The
month of February concludes with a game against Fairfield on the
28th.
The month of March features three road games and three home
games. Stony Brook opens the month at Marist on the 3rd before
an initial tune-up to conference play at Rutgers five days
later.
The Seawolves, who have made 13 straight appearances in the
America East Championship, will open conference play against
Albany on March 14. The Great Danes lead the all-time series,
15-14.
Stony Brook will host UMBC a week later on March 21 before
traveling to Vermont for a 1:30 p.m. game on March 28. The month
ends with a non-conference contest against Quinnipiac on the
31st.
For the first time since 1993, Stony Brook will face Princeton
in a game which will be played at LaValle Stadium on April 4.
The Tigers lead the series, 2-0, having played both of those
games in New Jersey.
America East newcomer UMass Lowell will host Stony Brook on
April 10. Non-conference play concludes against Lehigh on April
12.
Stony Brook's 2015 home finale will be against Binghamton on
April 18. The Seawolves wrap up the regular season at Hartford
on April 24.
