I talked to Christina from SB Tickets to discuss a few concerns
i had and she talked me into going with the 2 year deal,
lol!!!!! I does work out to be cheaper but just not this year,
the savings only apply to next season. Unless I'm dead I will be
a season ticket holder for next season too so why not do it...
Christina also told me they have 1000 season tickets holders as
of today and their goal is to have 1200 on the low side to 1500.
I think finding 200 more ticket holders from now to June is
       possible!!!

I really think Stony Brook has a pricing strategy that we don't
know much about here. I think they've been wanting to increase
prices for a while. Just never had the chance to do it without
justification. Now, with the new Arena they finally found their
       excuse.
I don't know whether they are trying to create the perception
that Stony Brook basketball is a hot ticket and its up there
with the bigs, or whether they simply need more revenue for the
program and the department which is heavily subsidized by the
student body and some state funding.... with that said... if
they get season ticket holders pi ssed and refuse to buy, they
might have to cut the prices for season tickets or heavily
discount game day tickets which will definitely pi ss off those
tickets holders that renewed early on
they are definitely taking a risk and testing the waters.... but
if it works then it will be a good amount of revenue for the
program and then expect Seawolves football to go up also in the
       following seasons.
I renewed my CFB season tickets in chairback seating for $85...
that comes out to about $12 per game. Its hard to believe that
Basketball tix are more expensive than FB tix...

Things could change. lol.. remember, I am also a Football season
ticket holder so, giving SB over $1500 a year could teeter on
the side of a little crazy considering I did not graduate from
       SB!!

Just so you know. YOU are part of the community, which makes you
more significant than about 90% of Stony Brook alumni who don't
care to come back. So yes, you are a little crazy. But no shame
       on that! LOL :)
       YOU BLEED "STONY BROOK" RED!!!
If I had more money I would make the basketball commitment.
Maybe next year I'll sign up for Season tickets.

I would agree that they are getting too pricey for their own
good. I don't go to B-Ball gms but I do have season tickets for
lax and football. I spoke with Christina last week and she said
that next yr for football gms there will be a charge to park in
the front lot. She said they are talking about $75 per car for
the season. They do not know what the drive up day of the gm is
going to cost. She said that some season ticket holders
complained that they couldn't get into that lot. Well first off
they should get to gms earlier or park in a different lot. It
will cost us an extra $225 to get the cars we need to tailgate
into the lot. Might just park in Irving and walk to the Downey
alumni tent and not worry about it. If all these teams and gms
were sold out and there was a demand then I could see rasing
prices, but as we all know that is not the case.

I talked to Christina about the parking as well and in addition
to people not being able to find a spot to park she also said
the main reason was the cost for security and campus Police..
I'm not so sure the cost for security and police for 4 or 5
hours hours justifies charging a thousand or so cars $75 each..
I told her large school such a Clemson charges big bucks to park
       but SB is no Clemson!!!!

Hey all, I'm working on a story for seawolvesnation.com
  HTML http://seawolvesnation.com
       about basketball season tickets.
Would anyone mind if I used quotes from this thread for the
piece? If you don't want to be included, please just let me
know. I won't use names, just forum handles. As a general rule,
I won't use comments made on the forums without first making
sure y'all are comfortable with it.
Additionally, if anyone wants to talk to me in greater depth
about this, please feel free to ping me directly.
For the record, this will be my first year as a basketball
season ticket holder now that I'm no longer a student, and I too
found the prices to be higher than expected.

Yes Seawolvesnation. You can use my "Quotes". Feel free to fix
some of my spelling errors, too..... I actually voiced my
concern today to Christina from SB Tickets and she was actually
surprised that I and some people from the Forum feels the Ticket
prices were excessive.. She also said last year they had about
700 season ticket holders and as of today they are at 1000. She
also said SBA would like to have between 1200 to 1500 STH for
this year and that would match their Goal.....If that helps
       you!!!!

As a student I am thankful that I get in free of charge! Friends
at other schools have to pay so I consider myself very lucky!

The football parking thing really doesn't bother me. A large
number of people (my group included) park in the train-station
lot to do our tailgating. Honestly, I prefer it to being right
next to the stadium (never have to deal with security, and the
people in our area are all pretty relaxed).
As for hoops, we really have to look at comparable pricing.
       Bing charges $185, Albany $175, Vermont $196, UMBC is $70 (it's
only 12 games, but you have to watch the Retrievers play 12
times. Then again, you get to watch their dance team 12
       times...)
Looking at what other schools charge, $240 really isn't
unreasonable. That being said, we're paying a higher price, we
should be expecting a better product. If things don't improve,
the price will either need to reduce, or expect a community
       backlash.
