SB vs Albany 5/1 730pm
By: Chairman of the Board Date: April 28, 2014, 8:10 am

Though the game is at LaValle, the Seawolves are the road team
by virtue of the fourth seed. Playing #1 Albany, who just blew
up #2 Binghamton, is a replay of an earlier contest that SB lost
by 10 goals. AE bracket here:
HTML http://www.americaeast.com/pdf9/2699888.pdf
Albany has won five in a row and no one in the conference has
come close. BC hung around for a while but the Danes opened it
up and won by 4. In five games, theyve scored 91 goals against
AE opponents, for a staggering 18.5 GPG in conference. Hartford
did the best with 15 surrendered.
Which brings me to- how then did Canisius hold them to 10?
Better get that game film...
It should be rainy and cold, though the rain might stop by game
time.
While AETV will air the semis, ESPNU will show the Finals. GO
SB

I'll be watching. Lets go Seawolves. Our boys have nothing to
lose so leave all in the field!

If I'm Albany, I'm not happy with this draw. We're a dangerous
team, way moreso than the record indicates, and we're at home.
If we can control the face-offs (shouldn't be too hard) and
watch the turnovers, Albany's in for a game.
Here's something scary about Stony Brook-Albany in the
semifinals of the tournament: Albany's offense ranks third
nationally in efficiency; Stony Brook's defense ranks 64
nationally in efficiency. The Seawolves' gigantic possession
margin advantage means next to nothing if Stony Brook plays to
script against the Danes. Just look at the truncated tempo-free
profiles: The Seawolves are yielding -- on a 100-possession
basis -- to their opposition almost as many goals as the Danes
are scoring -- on a 100-possession basis -- against their
opponents. That's the formula for a bloodbath, one that could
see the Great Danes mirror their 17-7 shellacking of Stony Brook
from earlier in the season. The Seawolves need to find a way to
create defensive stops, and a major factor in determining
whether Stony Brook can create those stops is in how the
Seawolves and Danes control and create off-ball movement when
Albany has the bean: Stony Brook's defense ranks 63rd in
defensive assist rate (assists per 100 defensive opportunities);
Albany's offense ranks first in offensive assist rate (assists
per 100 offensive opportunities). The quality of shots that the
Seawolves give up will ultimately dictate whether the team's
defense can give Stony Brook enough to compete with
Albany.
Win f/o's, attack the cage and shoot a high percentage. Same
formula as last yr's semi-final but with a better f/o man. The
difference this yr is that Rowe can dominate. Your not going to
stop them, so you have to put it on them early and try to take
them out of their gm. Spinning the ball around and trying to eat
up the clock won't work.

Bingo loses to BC 16-10.
i think we all agree that we needed a game plan to beat UA. so
what have we done different so far? for starters, first UA
clear we pressed on the ride, caused a turnover, luca scores.
then possession, rogers dodge and score. UA shoots within
seconds, get the ball back, sit on it. busted another UA clear
on the ride. long possession. rooney wing dodge and score. so
far so good.

broke another UA clear, got flagged, big EMD save on thompson
(does it matter which one?). clear, timeout SB. Possession,
flag, possession. lost ball, but broke up a UA fast break.
inside save against thompson. clear. 9 minutes and we have the
ball at least 7min, maybe 8. backed up a UA shot, SB ball.
we look like a top 10 team, methodical. we are all thinking we
shouldve done this all year. and for the good quarters against
Rutgers, MD, Duke, etc, i think we did.

one v one defense very solid. team playing loose. another
inside save against thompson. clear, possession. slow break
(dont see those anymore!), hughes to sichenzia for a 10 yarder.
4-0. rowe wins, possession. second mids. patient O.
ive asked all year for a quarter with no goals surrendered.
good time for it!!!
