Don't know what happened but we should be ok. I don't agree
with the article we have plenty of depth.

I agree with you re: the article, 97. Re: what happened here, I
have my theory based upon what Coach P. reportedly said (i.e.,
"...it's best for the program..."). Based on that I can only
conclude that either Walker was not happy with the reduced
minutes he was likely facing this year based upon the arrival of
Nyama and Sekunda, and was making his feelings forcefully known,
or he wasn't cutting it academically. Either way, I think the
team remains in go0od shap0e.

Very interesting situation. Clearly he was a plus perimeter
defender, and an outstanding rebounder, but he struggled
shooting the ball from the perimeter and free throw line. You'd
expect improvement in both of those areas though, so to say that
it's not a loss to me is just not being objective. However, if
there was one position that you had depth it was the wing/small
forward. Nyama is bigger, a better shooter, and supposedly as
athletic. Clearly he needs to rebound the ball from that
position. I would think that your biggest question(s) is who
starts in the backcourt with Puriefoy, and who starts at PF.
I'm also interested in seeing if Burnett gets an opportunity,
and just how much (if any) Sekunda can give you with his length
and shooting ability. I'd expect this team to shoot it better
than last year's team; Puriefoy, Mitchell, Braley, Nyama, King
can all hit the 3, and you must make teams pay for doubling down
on Warney. That will be the strategy until you show that you
can consistently make them pay. Thrower and Sturdivant are wild
cards, and they should be ready by January. I still like your
team to contend once again.

Agree with everything Quick. Losing a returning starter is
obviously a loss, but like you said, if there was any position
we could lose a player to transfer, it was the three.
I'm hoping for a big year out of McGrew. He had a flashes last
year and jucos always seem to have significantly stronger second
year's.

McGrew could be our hidden weapon. He is big and strong and
can go to the rim without a problem. He is also decent from the
free throw line a big plus when drawing fouls underneath . If
can get 10-12 points in 40 minutes that would be huge.

I agree on McGrew, he should be much more comfortable this
season. I thought he was your best big off the bench by the end
of the season. I think King is a key this year if he can defend
and rebound a bit. His shooting compliments McGrew's inside
play at the #4 position. You still have 2 of the top players in
the league so how you defend/rebound and what you get from the
others will ultimately determine your fate.

It says something about how weak the rest of the conference is
expected to be if the top team (SBU) is projected to be 135th
best in the nation. NCAAs or not, there's no reason they
shouldn't be a top 75 team at this point in the program's
development.
