from what I saw, Hernandez got about 40 snaps out of 60+ overall
during the two half scrimmage. It was not one of his better
days. Bednarski got only 10+ snaps, and Otrano got 3 snaps, so
I'd say its hard to judge those two, either good or bad. looks
to me like the staff has zeroed in on Hernandez as the QB.

From what I've been seeing this spring, I think Hernandez will
be our starter unless Kinder WOW'S the coaches!!

Just got home from the Spring Scrimmage. Nice turnout in the
stands, and a beautiful day to watch the action. Here are some
observations:
--Bednarski still didn't look that sharp to me. But he got the
overwhelming bulk of the snaps, and would appear to be Priore's
pick at this point, pending the arrival of Kinder.
--Hernandez got no snaps at all, but appeared to be O.K. on the
sidelines. Anyone know if he's hurt?
--Jahrie Level looked good and should be a great combination
with Coxson and Tye.
--Bedell, Fredericks and Kenner all looked good at RB, I
thought.
--Shortly after making a real good play at LB, John Haggart went
out with what appeared to be an ankle injury, and didn't return.
I hope he's O.K.
--Reid-Segure was impressive at DB, and made a ton of tackles.

I agree 100% with your assessment. Remember, it's only a spring
game and a lot of our starters did not play today. All in all it
was a very nice day!!!

I too agree with that assessment. I will look into Haggert's
injury.

I didn't like what I saw today with Bednarski (unconfident and
inaccurate, wouldn't pull the trigger until the WR was open,
instead of anticipating/seeing the route. It's not much, but
that extra second is an eternity against the better competition)
The defense looked very good. Davonte Anderson looked great.
Our WR's looked decent, Level and Coxson looked good, but there
was no deep threat at all. Using a guy like Shields helps keep
safeties honest, and stops teams from jamming 9 in the box. I
didn't see anything like that today, and that gives me concerns.
Our kicking game is going to be an adventure. Punts were not
going more than 35 yards (it wasn't the wind, because direction
didn't matter), and the FG/XP weren't ideal either. Looks like
FG range is going to be 45 yards max, and thats assuming
wind-at-your-back.
Tye is still returning punts, which is still kinda entertaining
to me. I don't like the idea, but considering our other
options, it's probably best.

I stayed for a half of the spring game, had some errands to take
care of afterward.
1. Bednarski was too inconsistent- misfired on a lot of
intermediate routes.
2. John Kinder was in street clothes on the sidelines- I still
think he'll be the starter come August 28th
3. Bedell and Kenner both had monster runs. Fredericks also
showed some good vision. Bottom line, our running game is
stacked.
4. Agree with sentiments about the kicking game- Ball absolutely
shanked one field goal. I wouldn't make any judgment about
punting since we have a Top 20 national punter coming in (Marc
Nolan)
5. WR will be good- Coxson and Level are a solid combo. Throw in
Tye and we'll have a passing game if we can get a QB who can get
them the ball
6. Our secondary has some talented underclassmen- Beverette,
Woods and Reid-Segure impressed me. Also, seeing Quinton
Littlejohn chase down Bedell on that run was really impressive.
I wanted to see our JuCo transfer Haris Mrkulic but he was on
the sidelines when I was there. Can anybody comment on his play?
If we can get reliable QB play, we're going to be much improved
this year

O.K. Got my answer on Hernandez.
Hernandez dressed but didn't play after suffering a mild
shoulder separation a week earlier. Kinder, who is about to
complete his undergraduate degree at Syracuse and isn't eligible
to practice until this summer, watched in street clothes.
