Newsday suggests Stony Brook the defacto flagship of Suny. I'm
really just trying to rise out of some other suny fans.

We need as much promo as we can get. Thank you Newsday!!! I
wonder if SBU and Newsday have some sort of partnership because
a new article comes out daily about something related to the
University

Last night here in NYC i went to the Century Association for an
intimate discussion with Dr. Stanley. First off, he is a great
speaker, no notes, went for about an hour, took questions, and
was very funny. I got to meet him and really liked him. I
already knew i liked his work.
He talked a lot about our accomplishments in the past few years-
AAU, athletics, fellowships, new hires, private donations,
Simons gift, attracting new talent, better faculty, rising SATs
and GPAs, rising applicants, research projects, the medical
center, new programs, etc. Thats only partial. This is an
exciting time to be a part of such a great institution.
I didnt even mention the construction projects- bball arena, the
stadium, hotel, wireless, rec center, 25a project, dorms etc and
the list goes on.
I got to chat with him directly and i let him know that- our
students, alumni, and former athletes (like yourselves) are
doing our best to get the word out, watching games, donating
money, going to campus, etc. He was very excited about what we
are doing- he said "i wish we could clone a hundred" of us fans.
We are in good hands. The presentation was downright inspiring.
GO SB

That's great news Chair. The present and future are certainly
bright. My only concern is the financial hit that NY state has
taken because of that b*tch Sandy. I'm hoping it won't mean
significant budget cuts for the next few years to deal with the
$40 billion or so in losses. I guess we'll see.

That is really good news on Dr. Stanley. Never thought about the
State of the State after Sandy. The campus is booming with
construction or planned projects . I have watched it grow since
my daughter started there in 1993. Totally different place today
and getting better.

Hello Guys. I just want to say I am a new to this board and
fairly new S/B fan. I went to my very first game last year, The
playoff game with Albany. Well, since then I'm hooked and
haven't missed going to a game this year. I also recruited 8
others to join the games and I recently reserved a bunch of 2013
season tickets for me and some family members, chair back seats
of course. I love reading all the great posts on this board
too... :)...
I am really excited about the movement to the CAA and looking
foward to some great games in 2013. :)

Hammertime welcome from all of us.
This is how its gonna be for right now- we pick up fans slowly.
And then, one day, when we are in the Final Four for football,
lacrosse, baseball is in the World Series again, and basketball
makes the tourney, it will pour in. And youll have been there
before it all happens!
Think im dreaming??? All of the above has either happened, or
we were a hair away. GO SB!!!
