Great time, but the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half were brutal.
Hammer, make sure you show up at the Garden next time.

Basketball can be a cruel game... we had a nice run in the first
half... but that quickly turned around and LaSalle had a huge
run to start the second half. We never recovered. We also fouled
more than they did and I believe Warney missed a pair of free
throws that were crucial late in the game. Nonetheless, I had a
good time with a group of fans and perhaps we represented well
relative to LaSalle contingent
With all that said, I still don't feel like this is the team
that can get us to the NCAAs... I like the parts but they don't
they just don't add up right in my eyes... something is missing.
Hopefully we can find out early enough...

Which team in the America East is better than Stony Brook???
[/quote]
What team was better than Stony Brook last year? and the year
before? and the year before that? has that gotten us to the NCAA
in march? Nop...
What I mean by that is that we may well be the best team in the
conference right now... and we have been one of the better teams
of this conference in OOC play the past few years but we still
have fallen in the end... and even though the team we have now
is great in comparison to the rest of the AE competition I still
don't feel like this team is good enough to win on a "bad
day"... I want our team to be capable to win this league on a "C
or D" day because clearly we haven't been able to accomplish
that in the past tourney appearances. Maybe I'm asking too much
at this point. I just want Stony Brook to be leaps and bounds
better than the league to give us a bit of insurance to win that
championship that has eluded us for so long
Don't mind me... I'm just getting a bit desperate. I just want
our program to finally shine in the spotlight... Tired of
Vermont and Albany getting the bids... GO SEAWOLVES!!!

Lax. I will no doubt be at the next MSG game....I gotta say,
today's game really pissed me off... WE must stop with all these
turnovers and guys throwing the ball to nobody... We are our
worst enemy... We are also better then LaSalle but we made too
many mistakes to win this game... Another problem out on the
floor is the lack of leadership. We need someone to step up and
control the tempo. Where is Tommy Brenton when we need him
!!!!!!!! Crying out load I am mad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, nothing has changed with SBU. Here is how the rest of the
season is going to go...
1. Work the ball inside, let Warney dominate, play inside out to
open up McAllister/Jackson/etc, get a decent lead.
2. Pull Warney, put in Mayo. Watch the lead shrink.
3. Put Warney and Walker back in, get a bigger lead.
4. Halftime.
5. Pull Warney and Walker, put in King and Mayo. Tell the
opponent that they aren't allowed in the paint.
6. Watch as the opponent doesn't listen, hits a bunch of layups.
Lead basically gone by now.
7. Panic. Tell the guards to rotate the ball around the outside
and chuck a desperation three-pointer with 2 seconds on the shot
clock. Opponent continues to hit layups. Lead now gone.
8. Cotton-Eyed Joe
9. Put the starting 5 in, opponent stops making layups.
10. Lose by 8. Place blame on one of the following: the
officials, the new rules, a rough bus trip, injuries, the court.
11. Hang another "Regular Season Championship" banner in
Pritchard, visit the NIT. Watch Vermont on CBS in the NCAA
tournament.
12. Contemplate rooting for Haverford (who only lost to the
"Franklin & Marshall College Dips" today by 10).
Today was a joke.

That was a pretty bad game yesterday. That's two bad
losses in three games ( St. Francis ). It was a tale of two
halves. We looked great the first 20 minutes then stunk up the
place in the 2nd. Mayo and King look lost out there if they
aren't fouling they just are not paying attention. This could
be a long season and we will lucky to win 20 games. I love
Walker he just gets better every game. He is like a Tommy
Brenton who can score. He is very athletic and he is in every
game.
Anyway they have a week off then travel to play UNH .
Hopefully we will out in 2013 and be 9-4 for VCU which will
make us us 9-5.

I agree 100 % Seawolf97.. This team is a Doctor Jekyll and Mr
Hyde this year and I think the reason behind that is the lack
of leadership on the floor. Help Tommy Brenton !!!!.. I think
Walker could be the next TB as you stated and be a leader next
year.. KIng and mayo are terrible and should not even be on the
floor, They have been doing squat so far... We have enough
talent on the floor to win games but the lack of leadership
is/will kill us this year.. Thats how I see it..... I have been
to every home game so far and the Brooks are clearly showing
weakness on the floor on every game... Coly, Jackson should be
taking charge and they aren't

Hammer I agree. Some one has to step and be the leader going
forward. I don't understand Mayo and King they should be
scoring underneath at 6'9 they cant miss. Worst case they get
fouled and go the line. Lets hope for better games ahead.
