So exciting that this is becoming a reality. After waiting for a
while we are finally going to see our Arena for Fall 2014. The
wait was long, but it is well worth it. Thanks for you insight
seawolf. I bet it will look as awesome as you're saying. To have
the best college basketball arena in an L.I is huge!
Here is an update

That is looking fantastic. Thank you so much. I needed to see
updates and this is looking great. We going to have a fantastic
"small" arena.

You are welcome.. I know its going to be about 4k capacity for
now. Do you know if the arena can be expanded in future with
further renovation like the football stadium or is it fixed?
Probably doesnt matter now, since we will probably have hard
time filling up the 4k arena. Unless we get really good in a
short time.

I haven't heard anything of possible expansion. Maybe they can
do minor expansion that can top it off at 5k when it becomes
necessary but expanding more than that would mean knocking out
walls and a lot of rebuilding, at that point it makes more sense
to build a brand new one.
I dream (15-20years) of having a separate stand alone 10-14k
basketball arena next to the Main entrance of the University so
that it has easy access but first we gotta get to the NCAA sweet
16 at least five times. LOL . I'll keep dreaming!

I wouldn't be suprised if we average 3000 seats short term and
if SB continues playing the way they do and wins the confrence
year after year, the new stadium will look small !!!!! Lets
start winning against schools like UCON, Maryland, Seaton Hall
then even big Orange then all hell breaks loose !!!!

I hope so. Problem is we have a lot of commuter students. Even
those who dorm, many go home over the weekend. And local LI
people are mostly into pro sports.. Jets, Giants, Knicks, now
Nets, Rangers, Islanders etc. Many would prefer to watch them at
home than go to SB games in the arena playing Maine Albany etc.
Many dont even know about SB athletics in NY. My brother went to
Duke. When I visited him on campus, there was NOTHING to do in
over. Game day was the biggest event! We are spoilt with choices
at SB. NYC is only 1 hour drive. I think 3000 would be tough to
get in first couple of years except probably against Albany and
AE tournament games. But going to NCAA regularly can change
that. NY media loves success.

People in LI are in pro sports because there is no big college
team around. St.Johns packs 8k every night. You gotta win and
people will come out. TRUST me. It happens everywhere. YOU gotta
win first and people will find out and come around. Its just the
way it works. Win consistently and fans will back you up. We are
in Stage 1 of program development. Stage two will require
multiple NCAA bids under our belt and a couple of NCAA wins. WE
are still a toddler despite having achieve so much in the past
couple of years. We have a long way to go. We can be the future
gonzaga, or butler... But for that we need to keep building and
the administration needs to keep backing up sports.
Just to add a bit of info related to our forum: We have the
highest post per day average ever for the month of January. We
are averaging 19.50 Post per day while the overall average since
late 2011 is 9.83... Talk about growth. Even our SBUfan family
is growing!
Lets go Seawolves
