Stat wise they out played Maine; but making the big play when
needed has been there biggest problem all year.
Lyle still stare down his primary receiver & doesn't go through
his progression on reading 2 & 3rd receivers. There was a couple
of plays that he had TE & Receivers wide open down the field.
The reason Stony Brook had more consistent drives in the 2nd
half is that they went to a 3 TE set; having an additional big
body on the line helped to establish the run & gave other
options in the passing game. When you see 8 D men in the box
you should adjust to a quick slant or post; 1 miss tackle & your
tacking it in for TD.
Maine had 8 to 9 men on the line all day; we should of made
better adjustments in the 1st half. I seen Hernandez QB play he
has a quick release & has good field awareness; I am looking
forward to seeing him in a game.
I thought that was the best coaching adjustment i seen all year
in the 2nd half from the Offence.
Defense had a great game; they still make to many crazy penalty.

Penalties have been killing us for a while. Mainly, when we
take a false start or hold on first down, we shell up, run a few
draws, and punt.
Something I just don't have an answer for is the lack of big
plays on all sides of the ball. We don't see a break away runs,
defensive TD's, 50+ yd pass plays, etc. Last year, it seemed
like every game we saw 3 or 4. Granted the competition was much
weaker, but the only big plays I can remember during this season
were a TD pass against Bryant and a pick-6 against Colgate. Add
in Negrons run to open the season and thats basically it.
This year, "good" is just not good enough. I know we've been
spoiled, as there are plenty of teams wishing they were 3-5
(Grambling for example...), but at this point I just want wins
against Richmond and Albany.
