Negron is not suited to the offense SBU wants to run.
His deep-ball accuracy isn't ideal, and his decision-making is
not what Priore wants. Negron tends to try and extend plays,
improvise, etc. That tends to yield boom/bust scenarios, and
doesn't fit the "grind it out" conservative style Priore wants.
I think Negron would be a much better fit in a spread offense
where he can improvise, scramble around, and let the chaos help
him.
Todays game showed we need to start opening up the offense.
Most of the game, Maine had 9-10 guys in the box. There was no
threat of a passing game, and once we started actually showing
some passing options, the offense started clicking.
Another loss to a ranked opponent. It's rough, but at the same
time, if this is the "low point" for the Seawolves, i'll take
it.

SB did open the offense ... On one drive they marched down to
the 6 yrd, line but then Negron threw an interception into
triple coverage that ended our chance to win the game .. Chrissy
is correct about us putting in a redshirt Freshman this late in
the season. Why burn the redshirt now.. At this point of season
the coaches should just start making adjustment for next year
and use the remaining games to see what works best in this
conference

Bingo!!!!! Now thats exactly what SB needs for a
Q!!!!!.........Yea, I remember AJ from last year with
Floyd...... He also played in the Empire challenge game in NYC.
Hopefully he gets some serious consideration next year for the
starting Q position because even with all the injuries this team
sustained this year, SB should not be a 3 and 5 team.. A lot of
that has to do with our Q, among other issues !!!

If AJ (great kid) ever starts at QB, you might as well raise the
white flag. This 5' 10" QB should never be behind center at
this level!

You don't have to be 6'0" to play QB. There are plenty of guy's
that have succeeded who aren't the tallest. And according to a
football alum who is extremely close to the program, the coaches
like Otranto's gm and will be in the mix. The source is not
just some guy that played at SB, he is a highly decorated alum
that has many close ties to the team.

In College, height is not an issue if you're a double option
quarterback. ..Johnny Manzel comes to mind, Lax !

I seriously doubt that SB will be starting a redshirt frosh next
season at QB. You have two to three other guys ahead if him,
one with 20+ games if experience at a highly competitive JC
program in California. This board may want a scrambling QB
game, but that us not the type of program that coach P has hear
at SB. The success of any QB comes down to decision making over
physical skills. Just look at Bree's and flutie. QB issues is
not why we are 3-5 this season. Our kicking game blew one win
against buff, and over penalties and DB lapses have hurt
mightly.

This is what this board is all about. I love how we have
difference of opinions about out team this year. None of us is
completely wrong or completely wright but we all have some
really good opinions about our Brooks, keep'em coming !!!!

They have had many issues this year and QB is one of them.
Negron just has not gotten it done. I didn't say that Otranto
would start, all I said was from inside word is that the coaches
really like his gm. As far as the other QB's go you would have
to look at it as an even race at this point cause nobody has any
exp. at SB. We don't know what happens in an off season, guy's
transfer, get hurt, or academically don't get it done. They
could turn around tomorrow and find some stud from somewhere and
this convo is a mute point. Just trying to give some insight as
to what we have on the roster now and what the staff thinks
about them. But again I have to disagree the QB position was a
huge ? coming into the season and it remains one at this point.
I can't see why anyone of us would not want to see what D'Amato
or Hernandez has at this point, cause there is really nothing to
lose.

I think its easy to blame negron for the woes of this team.
football is a team effort, probably like no other sport. sure,
he threw a pick near the goal line yesterday, but our D gave up
a huge TD pass, we had multiple penalties in key moments, and
our receivers stunk it up yesterday. combined, we played bad,
and still had a close game. but, the QB takes the hit, and the
criticism. part of the job description. I would say that
negron's play this season has been average at best. our O line
has been inconsistent, as evidenced by yesterday's first and
second halves. How can negron get sacked -on a one step drop
and throw? because the O line does not do its job. we saw that
a couple of times yesterday, and its been plauging us all
season.

I am very disappointed in our O line too... As big and as
experience they are, they really aren't giving Negron time to
throw and room for our RB to run..I think Dokes is mediocre at
best considering where he came from .... Yesterday was a
perfect example of that. In the first half Our O stunk the place
up and Negron and our running game did nothing. Then Priore must
have scared the poop out of them at half time because our line
starting making some holes for Kenner to run through and Negron
had a little more time to make some plays.. Winning is a group
effort and all positions must play well if you want to be
successful...
