Tip of the day! Members of the team and their parents should
NEVER view messages about their team! This goes for all sports
and all message boards!
By the way, since the beginning of the sport, football coaches
at all levels have never taken the kicking game seriously - will
they ever learn???? After QB, the kicker is the most important
player on the team! I guess Stony Brook found this out the hard
way on Saturday.

I would like to apologize to anyone who was offended about the
post I've written last night. Sometime I forget, College
Football is not the NFL and these kids are not paid a single
dime for playing Football, besides Scholarships they receive for
being Athletes. I wrote that post about our kicker shortly after
the 5 th overtime, out of frustration. Besides me being
frustrated about the loss, I could only imagine how the entire
team, family, friends must feel... I was selfish for making that
comment and again, please except my apologies.
I do agree with Laxnation about Family's going onto chat/message
boards and reading about what people are saying about their
athletes. People say things, good or bad for may reasons and
sometimes the author statement can be misunderstood and that
could cause issues !!!
I will always be a SB Football fan regardless how many games
they win or loose. With that said. go Brooks and I can't wait
for opening day back home !!!!

Hammertime is a class act and an enthusiastic SB Athletics
supporter who didn't attend the school. He is exactly the kind
of enthusiast SB Athletics and this Board needs. Tread
carefully when you criticize.

Sundoctor, I think you're off base. Your intentions are good
(who can knock the idea of class and respect!), but fan forums
are a different animal. They are meant for fans to VENT!
Actually our Stony Brook forum is more civil than many other fan
forums, and various contributors have let some contributors know
when they've made really unacceptable comments for a fan forum.
However, using asterisked profanity such as "f*ck" right after a
disappointing loss to express frustration with a player's
performance is NOT out of bounds for a fan forum. Criticizing
something about a player that has nothing to do with their
on-field performance IS out of bounds.
On another note, SB's performance this season after losing star
players demonstrates the difference between the football and
baseball programs. Football's "rebuilding" year is going to be a
good one. Baseball's rebuilding year was a bad one. Football has
become a winning program regardless of graduations, much like SB
basketball.

Hammertime - Your apology is gracefully accepted. To Laxnation
and rylink : I understand your desire for an open and adult
forum. However, I do truly believe that a line was crossed, and
by my reading of the rules of the forum, they were. I am also
unaware of any restrictions on who should read or participate in
these forums. I am a fan as well. I think it would be reasonable
for ecasadoSBU to comment on this since he is the one who
established this forum and established its rules. Go Seawolves!

Also of note is that both Johnson and Coxson went down with
injuries. Coupled with Bernard, I hope all of them are minor
and they'll recover quickly. All of them played great before
they had to leave the game, and it would be a real shame for the
Seawolves, as well as for those kids if they don't get to enjoy
the promise this season seems to offer.
I also think Eugene deserves a big SO as well for the game he
played!! The ESPN guys seemed to have fallen in love with him.

Hello guys. First off, sorry for a delayed response. I'm on my
way to uconn and just checked up on the forum.
I wanted to clarify a few things.
The original creator of this board is our fellow member ,
sbufan. I have to give credit where credit is due. He made this
virtual family possible. I tend to put more time into the admin
work, but he was the sole creator.
Second of all, there is a set of rules that are posted on a
thread that everyone should read. I basically copy pasted those
rules from a major lacrosse forum whose name I can't recall at
the moment. My original intentions for the set of rules was to
avoid another attack from powerful foreign fanbase like it
happened when we faced LSU in the super regionals. But what I
really prefer is that we treat each other as a family and that
we try to respect each others comfort zone as much as possible,
also allowing great discussion and a certain amount of freedom
of expression that we are acostumed to in fan boards
Emotions may sometimes run high... but at the end of the day we
love each one of our players and we wish them well outside the
field even if we critizice them heavily for the on-field
performance. I don't want to be a dictator here. I prefer things
to be resolved in a civil manner and I'm sure we can do that.
This forum is open for all, everyone including parents. But
parents should be aware that a fans perspective may someyime be
a bit rough and we are judging a players performance on the
field, not his outside life. We understand that they are indeed
amateurs and also students. No doubt that they are great
individuals who put in a lot of effort. Their character has
never been questioned by any of us, is only their performance in
the griridon that we look at. So keep that in mind guys.
Hopefully we can move on and keep cheering for our team. We are
all fans one way or another. Lets go Seawolves
Hsve s great day. On to villanova
Wrote this on a mobile phone so I apologize for spelling

Laxpower
One of the aspects i love about this forum is the small family
feel that we get here- most of us went to SB, still show up for
games, and know each other personally. Someday, when we get
bigger and better, we will lose that, and thats ok because its a
sign that weve arrived at a new level.
Ive always enjoyed that because of the above- we dont hvae the
vitriol and name calling and inappropriate behavior you find
everywhere else on the world wide intertubes. In some of the
moderation ive done on this board, it will be apparent that i
like it that way, and i hope you guys do too.
I hope we compromise and find a happy medium. Let your feelings
be known, but do it in a way that respects the players, the
program, and university.
With that said, my blood is scarlet and im still trying to
figure out how to make some of it gray. Go Seawolves. ::)
