Agreed BFF. I was just reading the sportsnetwork.com article
about Villanova quarterback John Robertson, who is only a
Sophmore, and good one at that how he is the leading force
behing Villanova strong whowing this year.. This kid will only
get better the next two years and we will have our issues trying
to contain him.. Stony Brook really needs a Freshman or ' or
Sophomore to step up and become a leader on this team... I
think D'mato has a real good shot next year to be our starting Q
and grow with the team.. We shall see !!!
I'm taking a very early flight out of laguardia tomorrow to
Charlotte NC then driving down to Clemson for the big game...
I'll try and keep you guys posted, if I Am even able to take a
picture of anything or remember!!! lol.... ....

I think the key challenge for the coaching staff is to recruit a
kid like the Nova QB to come to SB. this would have to be a kid
that has a legit chance of being an FBS recruit right out of HS.
so of these "tweener" QBs out of high school think that going
to FCS instead of FBS is a bummer, and they dont go there right
out of HS. instead they may take an FBS offer right out of HS,
then sit on the bench their entire career. if SB coaching staff
is able to find a great HS prospect, then they need to convince
the kid that he has a chance to start right away at SB.
otherwise, I think the kid will take his chances with an FBS
offer instead of coming to SB. Example, two years ago, SB got
an early verbal commit from a southern california QB. for
whatever reason, he ended up going to Fresno State and FBS
school. He is now a RS freshman there, sitting on the bench.

I think thats the same problem for all Football programs playing
in the FCS.. Bottom line. If you're really that good of a
football player in HS, then you want to go to a FBS school and
hopefully get noticed . The problem is. How does a coach from an
FCS convince a 17 or 18 year kid he's better off playing for
them then some big FBS school!. It's all about chasing the
dream. These kids have Football running through there blood from
Elementary school and all the talks of getting a scholarship in
a big school from high school coaches , family. friends etc,
brain washes these kids brains thinking they will be the next
Payton Manning .... I think a real good coach in college can
groom a freshman right out of high school and make him a
star..... A lot has to do with coaching and if SB wants to take
this program to the next level then I think we might want to
consider finding some really good personnel, but DO NOT LET
PRIORE GO !!!!! He is the backbone to this team !!!!!
This is my opinion of course...

We have 2 other QB's redshirting this year, Otranto and
Ferriera so you have to see what they have to offer. Otranto can
run ( he ran a spread in HS ) and Ferriera can throw ( he is in
the Essington mold ). Now I just have to ask what coaches need
to be upgraded. I know it's your opinion but I don't get why you
might think that SB needs new coaches ( besides Priore ) in
order to compete better. Witch ones are not cutting the mustard.
I just don't get why that would keep coming up. I am curious as
to who needs to go. Have at it.

Sachem North senior Malik Pierre is being heavily recruited by
SB. He is a 3yr starter for Sachem at RB and DB. He is
considered one of the top 2 way players on the island. At 5'10"
185 with electric speed. He has run for 1,322 and 18 TD's this
season on 134 carries. In the Suffolk county championship gm
against Floyd he ran for a TD, caught a TD, threw a TD, and had
2 int's in a winning effort. Sachem North play's Farmingdale on
Sat at Lavalle 4:30 pm for the LIC, so you local guy's can check
him out. Or tune into optimum ch. 414 at 11 am on Thanksgiving
to catch the replay of the Floyd gm. He has interest from
Albany, and JMU as well but he prefers SB and is waiting for an
offer. I am friends with his dad so this info is right on. Maybe
someone could upload some video.

from a Newsday story over the weekend about Coach P and Coach
Ford: interesting text underlined. could bode well for
recruiting this year.
Both schools suffered widespread injuries, including several to
key players. That contributed to Albany's 1-11 record (0-8 CAA),
the worst by far of Ford's career, and to Stony Brook's losing
ledger (5-6, 3-5), but Ford predicted good things ahead.
"I think both schools will do well, and that's a great
conference," he said. "I was shocked at how good they were on a
weekly basis . . . For us, it will be a process. Even for Chuck,
while he was at 63 scholarships, I don't know if he was able to
recruit all CAA-type kids. Now that he's in the CAA, I think
he'll get a little better kid."
In Priore's view, SBU's injuries were more a matter of chance
than change. The important thing to him was that the Seawolves
fought through it to win their final two games.
"We handled adversity," Priore said. "I think the lesson this
team learned is that if you prepare correctly, good things
happen. We learned to finish the last two games."

My take, Hammer, is that while I certainly agree that Tye
displayed the tools and talent to be considered, he didn't get
nearly enough touches to merit the award. It's not his fault.
The play calling, for a whole bunch of reasons, didn't target
him enough--in part being limited due to the raft of injuries to
other key players.
Next year should be quite a different story. Barring another
year destroyed by injuries, my money is on Tye and Coker both
making first team all-CAA.
