Ok this is what I got from my inside source. The FBS transfer
QB rumor that you heard about is former Lawrence QB John Kinder
( he is a duel threat with only 1 yr eligibility/ he didn't get
much run at Syracuse so I do not know much about him. Coming out
of H.S. he was a terrific athlete and could have moved to DB at
the 'Cuse. Also incoming Freshman QB Pat Irwin from PA.
WR Julian Wingate NJ / incoming Fresh
TE Cal Daniels CT / incoming Fresh
LB Shanye Lawless NJ / incoming Fresh
In addition to Stacy Bedell my source tells me that they will
bring in another RB from HS and with all the RB's on the roster
a couple will leave the program. They are all in on Bedell. I
hear the interest is Pierre from Sachem and Ade Nelson from
Comsewogue ( I really have not heard anything about Nelson, I
usually have a good handle on the local guy's, he may have been
injured. Pierre however is a top notch player.
       [/quote]
This Rumor is now confirmed by Newsday that Q, John Kinder,
graduate student from Syracuse will transfer to SB and compete
for a starting position ... My guess is he will be our starter
       this year.....

This kid Cal Daniels at TE certainly looks like a load after
catching the ball, not to mention a bruising blocker!! Give him
a year at redshirt, and I can easily see him as Will Tye's
       heir-apparent.

Hammer, I guess we will see about Kinder. no game experience at
all so far in his college career. if it were me, Bednarski and
Hernandez would be the front runners with Kinder competing for a
       backup role.

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook Interim Director of Athletics
Donna Woodruff has announced that head football coach Chuck
Priore has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at
the helm of the program through 2018. The extension adds a year
to Priore's existing contract as he agreed to an extension
through the 2017 season in January 2013.

"I appreciate the commitment the Department of Athletics and the
entire University have shown in building a championship-level
football program here at Stony Brook," Priore said. "My staff
and I will continue to recruit quality student-athletes and look
forward to continuing to build the brand of Seawolves football."

Despite season-ending injuries to numerous starters during Stony
Brook's first season in the Colonial Athletic Association,
Priore guided the Seawolves to a five-win season, including
victories over No. 25 James Madison and in-state rival Albany.

"Coach Priore has built Stony Brook football into a formidable
and well-respected program," Woodruff said. "Under his
leadership, and behind an unwavering commitment to excellence,
his teams are always well-prepared for competition. I am
thrilled that Coach Priore has agreed to this extension and will
continue to lead our football program well into the future."

Excluding 2007, when Stony Brook competed as an independent,
Priore, who is 52-40 in eight years at SBU and 91-46 overall,
has led the Seawolves to at least a share of a conference title
       in five of seven seasons.

Stony Brook, which has won at least five games in each of
Priore's eight seasons, also has produced success in the
classroom. In its final two seasons in the Big South Conference,
Stony Brook garnered an award from the FCS Athletics Directors
Association for having the conference's highest Academic
       Progress Rate (APR).
Two recent graduates - Miguel Maysonet and Michael Bamiro - were
part of an NFL roster for the majority of the 2013 seaso

BFF... I understand your point and I've always been the one
pushing for a Freshman or Sophomore quarterback to start and
grow with the team, but Kinder was a big time quarterback for
Lawrence and was recruited by Syracuse for a reason. He only
played in a few games because Nassib rarely got hurt and was/is
an incredible quarterback.. How I see it , Kinder got a hell of
alot of training, practise and knowledge from a Football school
so he comes to SB with a ton of knowledge..Lets see what this
kid can do .. He's also is a double option quarterback. I think
by now you know how I feel about that!

Hammer, yes I know how you feel about double and triple option
QBs. Competition for Bednarski and Hernandez will be good. You
always need someone pushing up behind you in competition to get
better. Hernandez was a true run/pass threat in HS, and
Bednarski has a canon arm with juco experience. Spring ball
       should be fun

At a certain point you have to establish some continuity at the
QB position. I'm not saying that he can't play but you don't
want to be looking for another QB the following yr. This would
be 2nd straight one and done QB. The bigger question is
Bednarski, I would have thought he was a shoe in by now. We do
know that Kinder can play WR if QB doesn't work out. Seems like
a risk but we will see.

let's give Bednarski and Hernandez a shot to win the starting
job outright this spring. both have now been in the system long
enough to "learn" the system. face it, Negron was the guy last
year, even in the spring. Bednarski had a long steep hill to
climb coming out of Fullerton to SB in January, so his chances
of passing Negron were slim to none. Hernandez is the mystery
to me. he needs to make s serious run at the job this spring,
or he will be a perennial back-up. I agree with Chrissy, I hope
Bednarski or Hernandez wins the job this year so we can have a
least two years of QB continuity at SB. we need that to be able
to build the program. Kinder may be a good kid, good athlete,
and a local talent, but I don't think he is a "Russell Wilson
type" that went to Wisconsin in his fifth year of eligibility
and "lit it up". I might be wrong, but... I am sure that Coach
P told Kinder and the press that Kinder would have chance to win
the starting job, why else would Kinder come to SB anyway.

Tend to agree 1 year QB's do not help the program as good
as they may be. Continuity at that position is important so
let them compete but no guarantees for Kinder as the starter.
