The travel issue hurt them along with some bad recruiting of
not such FBS talent . Imagine trying to travel 90 miles for a
home game and then lose to boot. It will be interesting to see
how Appalachian St does in the Sun Belt next year. Each program
has different expectations so I expect a team like Old Dominion
will do well in Conf. USA with their fan base. We can do it
over time but would need a lot more money to fund the program.

Just read that Patrick Irwin (State College HS, PA) committed to
play football at SBU in 2014. I can't find a lot about him.
But, what I do know is that he made first team all-star in the
mid-PA area where his high school is located, and that he made
that team as both a QB and kicker. He's from the same high
school as Bryan Sekunda (one of SBU's BB recruits for next
year). So, I'm sure Irwin's decision was highly influenced by
       his school buddy.

After my last posting, I did manage to find the link below.
Irwin looks like a pro-style pocket passer with a pretty good
arm. But, he clearly can scramble and run when he has to. What
       do you guys think?

If you mean the source for the info, Hammer, it was Irwin's
       Twitter feed.

I like what I see. He can throw on the run, pass deep and seems
to have speed to run the ball at will.

looks like a nice pick up for us. Red shirt him this year, then
throw him in the mix for 2015

Chrissy, any word on potential JUCO signings that we might be
looking for this week as these kids may be eligible to start at
SB at end of January? ???

Ok this is what I got from my inside source. The FBS transfer
QB rumor that you heard about is former Lawrence QB John Kinder
( he is a duel threat with only 1 yr eligibility/ he didn't get
much run at Syracuse so I do not know much about him. Coming out
of H.S. he was a terrific athlete and could have moved to DB at
the 'Cuse. Also incoming Freshman QB Pat Irwin from PA.
WR Julian Wingate NJ / incoming Fresh
TE Cal Daniels CT / incoming Fresh
LB Shanye Lawless NJ / incoming Fresh
In addition to Stacy Bedell my source tells me that they will
bring in another RB from HS and with all the RB's on the roster
a couple will leave the program. They are all in on Bedell. I
hear the interest is Pierre from Sachem and Ade Nelson from
Comsewogue ( I really have not heard anything about Nelson, I
usually have a good handle on the local guy's, he may have been
injured. Pierre however is a top notch player.
