Just saw Stony Brook picked up a commitment from Erasmus Hall db
Darin Peart. Looks like a solid recruit, had an FBS offer on the
table from Buffalo.

He looks good but his 40 is only a 4.72..I wonder if you can be
trained to run faster ? say,40;45 would be nice !

you always have to take the those 40 times with a grain of salt.
This recruiting site has his 40 listed at 4.50 and has him as a
three star prospect. I think his film is impressive enough to
not to be worried about his speed.

I like his film, looks like a real instinctive player. Do not
worry about 40 times, all he needs is to be fast in pads.

Not sure what everyone is looking at, I am very dissapointed.
Here is my take away from this highlight...
1. he is never set/ in a stance before the snap
2. foot work is horrible
3. does not tackle well, lunges alot and too many should
tackles.

i just don't agree with you at all on this. Maybe he doesn't
wrap up the way you'd like, but for guy that will play corner to
us, this kid lays people out.

and the footwork problem?, plus he will not tackle anyone at
this level lunging at people. I believe we have gotten to the
point were we can get athletes that have the basic fundamentals
down, and we don't have to waste years teaching them.

You get taught at every level, that's why you have redshirt
years. I really don't now what you are looking at. No one said
this kid is a five star recruit we just said we liked his tape.
When we speak of instincts we are talking about how he breaks on
the ball. Tackling on every level needs to improve with Def
Backs. Ever watch some NFL corners tackle or try to tackle, it's
not good.
And after watching the tape again I am even more impressed with
his ball skills, footwork, closing speed, tackling. When you
tackle ball carriers you are supposed to tackle low at the legs,
never tackle high. Footwork at safety and corner are right on (
read steps or back peddle, change of direction and closing speed
)

Roosevelt's Raymond Jones committed to Stony Brook per newsday.
I haven't looked at his film yet, but I love his track and field
pedigree given his size.
