Stony Brook beats Vermont 13-5 today. One noticeable change:
First game in which the team is over .500 in faceoff percentage.
Thats good
We are now 2-7! Lets go Seawolves. Hopefully they can turn their
season around and finish strong in the conference where it
really matters.

@ Ry1nik. I agree with your comments made a few days ago.
Non-conference games are indeed important and as SBU fans we
should expect them to compete well outside of their conference
but...
Your comments regarding SBU under-performing as a "...major
University for so long..." are arguable. Lets look at the
history of Stony Brook University and its easy to understand why
our athletics programs are lagging far behind our academics. I
used to think the same way as you but lately I have changed my
stance. Lets keep in mind that Stony Brook broke into the
National University rankings only a few years ago, and that it
transitioned into a renowned national research university from
the mid 1990s onward, before that it was just another state
university out there.
I don't think its fair to expect the athletic department to have
grown at such a fast pace as the University has grown in the
academic end, specially when SBU didn't emphasize undergraduate
education and UG student life until Kenny came in (from what
I've read and researched). Its unrealistic to expect SBU to have
an athletic department today on the level of peer institution
likes Penn State, Rutgers, Florida, Uconn, UMass just to name a
few. Some of these institutions have been offering Division I
athletics for longer than SBUs existence so its going to take
time to [if we ever] catch up.
With that said, I still want the programs to keep growing. I
want the wins to keep coming and I always have high expectations
of the athletics department since the day I became a student at
the University and I want those non-conference wins every day
Sorry for going off-topic...

eCasado, I'm not disagreeing with you. If you read my post
again, you'll see "I'm not assigning blame..." The fact still
remains that SB fans have been starved for sports success;
regardless of the circumstances.
Back to the lacrosse— Andreassi was 2 for 8 on faceoffs, the
rest of the team was 8 for 11. Why does Nagle give him so many
minutes when he's not getting the job done?

Nice win. I didnt see the game but I imagine having campbell
back in the lineup is a big help.

So im hoping this was the game where the team found its
chemistry, and how perfect was the timing, we will find out in
the next few weeks. After trying 3 different goalies, at least
7-8 at the faceoff, switching many guys between A/M (Adams,
Belton, Watson, Tundo, Andreassi), giving a shorty to 3 LSMs,
and even making a change at starting defense.
The picture is becoming clearer. If i had to guess- youll see
Rooney/Bellando/Watson at attack; Tundo/Campbell/Bonanno at
midfield, mixed in with Andreassi and Belton (inj) and maybe
Dahms. LeVerne/Millican at SSDM, maybe Cerasi mixed in, with
Laforet at pole. Gibson/Moeller/Judge at defense, Keneally in
goal.
The good news is that this team has multiple threats, and so i
think teams will default to giving Campbell the pole. He
clearly never seems to mind! 8)

it'll be interesting to see how other teams deal with that
midfield line of Tundo, Campbell, and Bonanno. They all have
good size, build, and athleticism and I imagine are match up
problems against a short stick.

Just signed on so I have to piggie back a few topics.First off
you cannot be content with just winning the conf.Since we lost
to Virginia in the playoffs we have gone backwards. It's one
thing to arrive, and it's another thing to stay.As a fan base and
University you just can't be happy to be there.Any time you can
get national exposure you need to take advantage of it.Making
the playoffs last year would have been huge.Recruits want to
play on NCAA playoff teams not AE playoff teams.I realize that
the coaching change has something to do with the poor start but
you have to do better.Recruits are fickel now and change their
minds, you have to keep them interested by winning. Also the
school has to start setting up it's own weekend classic games
with 4 to six teams, the L.I. fans would show up.The goal should
be to keep the best L.I. talent home and your not going to get
that by hoping you win the AE.I have been around this school for
25 yrs as a student a football player and fan as I attend all
Lacosse and Football home games, and it just seems that every
step foward results in two steps back.If we could have North
Carolina play here in 1991 on the old crappy field then we
should be able to do better now.Hate to sound salty but real
hungry for a consistant winner. To answer the Andreassi question
he was a big steal from Umass for Nagel, one of his first
recruits so he is gonna play him for the future. The kid can play
he has been asked to do alot of different
things(fo,middie, attack) does not look like face off is his best
spot but that is not what they brought him here to do.Take a
page from football they are on the right track.
