New Coach and Lots of New Faces...
By: sbufan Date: October 12, 2011, 11:07 am
---------------------------------------------------------
What do you guys expect from the team in 2012?
I think we'll see a more traditional offense and probably more
middie line rotations (which I'm happy about). Despite all our
losses graduation on offense, I think Bonanno, Campbell, Tundo,
and Belton (anyone know why he's playing time was so limited
last year? Was he just getting outplayed by Drost?) are a good
group to build an offense around. Sowell didn't play many guys
(which I found somewhat frustrating) so it's hard to tell what
we really have.
Attack: Tundo, Belton, Bellando?
Midfield: Bonanno, Campbell (I think he's more valuable to us on
offense), Watson?
SSDM: Leverne; ??
LSM: Laforet, Micelli, Day, Muzio,... plenty of depth here. I
think the question is who gets moved to close D.
D: Moller, Wawryzniak, ??
G: Keneally, Mcgushin

Yep- on attack i think youll see Tundo, Belton/Bellando, and i
even heard Adams moved back to attack. Belton might have been
hurt and his #s dropped way off this past season. Because of
all the talented upperclassmen last year, we didnt really get to
see Rooney and Treusdell.
Midfield, barring any new freshman/transfers, will have to
include Campbell and Bonanno. I heard Watson will move from
attack to mid (and i heard he has four years left). Second line
im not sure, but yes, i think we will have more depth here (or
at least we will in 2013). Maybe Zorn? Dahms? Millican?
Duddy?
LSM- Laforet, Miceli, Day, Scalera?
SSDM- Laverne. Need others to step up- Cerasi? Move a pole to
short? Convert a FOGO?
FO- I heard Cureton left, so its Lucas or Pelella i predict.
Defense is definitely Moeller, and i heard Wawryzniak moved down
low. Greene was starting but blew a knee. Miceli has played
low at times, and now runs pole. Also still have Benitez and
Muzio. And a whole lot of poles left.
GK- has to be McGushin or Keneally theyre the only two!
Really looking forward to the development of new faces- in
particular- Dorsey, Harris, and Miller.
We'll find out more after the scrimmage this wkd and next. All
corrections welcome!

I expect they will have a winning season. Not sure if they win
the AE but they will be force for sure. I like their non
conference schedule not overwhelming but competitive. This is
a building year under new a coach and a new system. Interesting
to see how they handle Virginia, Delaware and Towson.

I agree about Dorsey, Harris, Miller and I'd add Duddy. Luke
Miller is the most interesting to me. I believe he spent 6 years
on varsity at William Floyd. The team his senior year struggled,
but I think he might be a very good pick up for the Brook. Duddy
was a Suffolk County All-American, but I'm not sure that he's
college ready physically. Hopefully he can add some weight to
his frame because he can qb an offense from the midfield.
Also in the sophomore class I want to see how Rooney, Bellando,
and Vassallo develop. Rooney put up incredible scoring numbers
in Suffolk County his junior and senior years. Did they redshirt
him last year? Was he hurt? Vassallo doesn't come from a strong
high school program but he carried the team on his back his
senior year (I think he was in on something like 80% of his
team's scoring his senior year). He has good size and I think he
could develop into a solid player for the Seawolves.
I also think Day could be a real solid LSM if given the
opportunity.

I think i heard Rooney was hurt last year, maybe an ankle. He
didnt get on at all. So perhaps a RS is in order. Vassallo is
big and works hard and the team loves him. Day looked really
athletic but only got minimal time behind Laforet and Miceli-
btw Laforet could be last years most improved.

I always expect a good Men's lacrosse team. By good I mean a
winning team that will get to the AE tournament and compete
there. I am not sure about winning the Conference but our team
has been good year by year. They should be able to perform well
once again.

Hey SBUFan, looks like good guesses. I'll add in some early
guesses too:
ATT: Tundo, Adams, Bellando. Maybe some Belton and Rooney
MID1: Bonanno, Watson, Campbell. All love to carry so expect
dodging!
MID2: Zorn, Dahms, Millican? Duddy impressed me at the
intrasquad
FACE: Smith or Pelella
DMID: Laverne, im guessing Cerasi. We saw Scalera and Harris
move from LSM to short
LSM: Laforet, and if its like last year, some Miceli and Day
DEF: Moeller, Wawrzyniak. Greene is redshirting, so possibly
Miceli, Benitez, Muzio?
GOAL: Keneally

I really like how that second midfield line looks. We may not
have Crowley, McBride, Rand etc but this team will have some
nice depth.
I'm really excited about this season because we're underdogs
again. Last year expectations were so high that it would have
been nearly impossible for the team to live up to hype.
