Danny Hughes from Shoreham Wading River announced on twitter
that he's committed to Stony Brook. I can't find too much on
with regards to lacrosse except that he had 4 points last year
on a Long Island championship team including a goal in the
downstate championship game. However it looks like he's going to
be a three year starter at Shoreham on their football and
basketball teams.

great place to have a pipeline, no?
(edit)- yes looks like he was on the second line this year, so
with two seasons to go, we have big expectations!

i like his mechanics on his shot. he is one of the bigger guys
out there and that seems to be the standard now for SB middies.
he has plenty of time to grow as he isnt graduating for another
year.
he can faceoff, shoot, and play defense. that makes your
chances of playing a lot better.

here's what i like- a shifty X attacker, reminds me of Sichenzia
a bit. very good at finishing (mid range especially), can feed,
cut, sneak, play off ball, fast breaks, and most importantly, i
really like his ability to cut through traffic and grab passes
(a la Eastwood). he's a little small but plays big and has time
to grow.
i only saw few two man sets behind, which suggests that he is
comfortable in a 141 or a 132 being all alone under the GLE. he
seems to be a dodge first, pass second in this situation (in a
good way), reminds me of Cappadoro. i suspect he is a creator,
a guy you run your offense through. he's got so many points he
must have a hand in half the goals his team scores.
i didnt see too much work in the crease, as i dont think that's
his game, but in the short footage i saw i really like the he
knows how to follow a slide to get himself open.
and he looks very comfortable in the scarlet & white. ;D ;D ;D

.@ConnectLAX boys’ recruit:
Stony Brook gets commitment from Bethlehem Central (NY) 2015
goalie Comber
By K.I. Goldberg
LILacrossenews.com, Posted 2/19/14
Bethlehem Central High School (NY) junior goalie Dan Comber has
made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Stony Brook
University.
Dan Comber ledger:
High School: Bethlehem Central High School, New York
Graduation Year: 2015
Position: Goalie
College Choice: Stony Brook University
Club Affiliation: Albany Power
Lacrosse Honors: 2013 2nd team All-League, 2013 Times Union
All-Star, Pride of New England
Academic Honors: Honor Roll (4 semesters), Merit Roll (1
semester)
What will you major in/study? Mechanical Engineering
Why did you choose Stony Brook? “For me, Stony Brook really felt
like the right choice. The academic rigor of the University,
especially the prestige of the Engineering program, along with
top level lacrosse at a place I really felt like I fit in. Coach
(Jim) Nagle, Coach (Craig) Gibson, and Coach (Andrew) Watkins
were all extremely welcoming and I really like the way they
coach. All the players I met had very positive things to say
about Stony Brook, both academically and athletically. Overall,
Stony Brook felt like a great choice for me.”
Thoughts on the upcoming HS lacrosse season? “We’re all
extremely excited for the spring season. This year we are lucky
to have lots of key returning players, including an entire
returning starting defense. We’re looking to work hard and
hopefully see results in the season.”
Thank You: “I really would like to thank all my coaches, my
parents, and everyone else that helped me throughout this
process. The support and understanding has been great throughout
this experience. I’ve had to do lots of traveling and lots of
decision making, and my parents and family have been there for
me throughout it all. All my coaches have been extremely
helpful, from contacting coaches to assisting me in my tougher
decisions. Without them, this process and my whole lacrosse
career wouldn’t be possible.”
Other schools considered: Le Moyne, Colgate, Penn
